Hi everybody! may be I am crazy.. but recently my girlfriend got a job offer in Doha.. and I can not stop thinking, what if it's some fraud.. I am just interesting if there is an illigal "escort service" in Doha. I am afraid that they might bring her to Doha, take away her passport and all documents and to make her serve men in Doha. I have hear about these cases in the world: they promiss the job, and then they put you on the drugs and turn you into the prostitute.. please help me to find the answer!! I don't want my friend to get in troubles!!

another question! again about my girlfriend, which recently got a job offer in Qatar. Will she receive the working permit/work visa while she is still here in Canada? What kind of documents does she need to submit in the airport upon her arrival to Doha? Should she have a working permit by that time?

Thank you!

SilverMoon,

This place is one of the safest places for women in the world. Unless your girlfriend overtly flirts with men here. Men are scared to approach women directly because of the laws protecting them. ANd also most of the time a womans word is taken even if she is wrong, there is more than one incident where men have been kicked out cause of that... so chill...

This does not mean there aren't hookers here, they are very low profile, and I am not aware of anybody coming on a legitimate contract and visa here doing this kind of a business. I can sense a little bit of paranoia in your post as well as concern. Just so you can break out of the feeling, let me say, make sure your girlfriend comes here with a well known company and is here to work on a proper contract. As Muliebriamania has mentioned I guess your girlfriend is Canadian and people don't want to mess with Western people here, you will not find western women hawking their wares here unless it is really high profile, its mostly the Chinese, Philipino and Russian women here who are on the game at hotels. Also if a sponsor insists on keeping her passport its better she does not join that company or use that sponsor. IF that happens after arrival go to the police get your passport and take the next flight back home. It is completely legal to do that and remember even you do not own your passport your government does, so your nearest embassy can interfere and help you out.

Anyway as mentioned before this is a safe place, so let go of your fears and send her and maybe you will join her in a short while.

Good luck

Says your Canadian, so I can only assume that your girlfriend is to. I will also assume since you are from a Western country that she is not taking a job as a "waitress." She'll be fine.

What do you think this place is? Skopje?

Let go and wish her luck.
