UKEng... it was me. I got 6000 QR fine, but I know for a fact the traffic light not working. I came down to Khalifa Madina police station and asked for the print out and you cant see the light works on the photo. They asked me to went to the captain and the fines reduce to QR 500.

I meant in regards to slowly creeping forward is that alot of new people are used to the camera being on the opposite side of the road and the line is usually in line with the lights and not that behind them so some people slow down and do not intend to cross the line but roll the car slowly and accidently cross the line.

I understand that you should not intend to go through red lights and the flashing green light and orange are the warnings to stop but sometimes there are also trucks and buses in the way, blocking your view of the signal and so you see them go through thinking you are safe but you are not so you slam on the brakes. They should have lights on the opposite side of the road that are higher up so you can see more clearly when it is safe to go.

I am not defending people who drive straight through etc all people should obey road rules however accidently just creeping over the line is not work qr6000

GodFather.

There are some people here in Ql that had their fines reduced but that was only because they argued that the camera was not working properly.. If you think that you have been wrongfully been issued a fine then you can contest, but if you did jump the Red light then face the music my son and pay the fine..

i thought that the cameras were only activate once you wheels went over the sensors in front of the white line. If you look carefully, there are digging marks infront and behind the white lines, therefore you can drive up to the white line, but its only once your wheel goes over the second sensor that the camera is activated....

To be honest, I never see/saw any real trouble in slowing down and stopping at a red. I usually cross at speeds of around 75/80Kmph at reds and never felt any need to install countdown timers. It's just upto your decision making, judgement and braking abilities.

I've seen some women driving past yellow and i've seen many men stopping at blinking green!!!!!!!!!!!

Blame your abilities and not the system :)

hi kate, like FS said, if you're below 80, and you are given 5 -6 seconds to slow down, i dont think you would have to slam on your brakes, and miss the line a little bit, but enough to get the camera catching u.

it happens when you're moving fast, miscalculate the signal change, and on split second, decide to brake. i've seen it a lot. and it used to happen to me when i was a newbie.

i think the traffic fines are a bit steep. I understand that running a red light is ilegal HOWEVER there are situations where you have slowly crept up to the line and your wheel has just accidently gone over the line and snap, you have been caught without any intention of crossing the line.

I understand there was mention about the people coming up behind you, yes the defence they made me do it won't work but it would be better then having a 4wd slam into the back of you because SOME PEOPLE do not care about traffic lights or speed limits because they get away with it.

the red light camera should be on the other side of the lights after you pass over the line a considerable amount. There are situations where you have to slam on the breaks and you may just pass the line but then reverse back or don't continue to go through... you still get fined!!!

Perhaps they should make the fines stick to the people who are the real offenders and not let them get off all the time, leaving us 'safer' drivers stuck with fines

Try to bargain with them maybe you can lower the price, just like in the souq. :)

And if you are a regular customer, next time you will get 10% discount on traffic fines.

It's true that had working hadn't killed anyone yet, but why to take risk?

30 SECONDS warning?? ..lol... all green signal is 30-40 seconds... warning shouldn't be more than 5-6 sec...

and if your speed is under 80, you should be fine...

the law. Just pay the fine.

My thoughts are my own, but I doubt my Mum would agree with some of them.

The lights give a six-second warning. It should be sufficient for both decision-making and braking. It's good that you have situational awareness of the vehicle behind you but in the end it is you who will have to pay the fine. I'm afraid that the "He made me do it" defense won't work.

Nope, and no need for caps lock.

Red light means stop. Stop. If you don't understand this you don't deserve to be behind the wheel.

HEY GUYS WHY BLAMING HIM ? DONNT U EXPERIENCE THAT UR ABOUT TO STOP B4 SIGNAL BECOMES RED & SUDDENLY ONE LANDCRUSER BEHIND U GIVE U FLASH LIGHT & A BIIIIIG HORN SO U BECOME PANIC ? I DONNT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE NOT INSTALLING DIGITAL ANTICLOCK TIME(e.g- 30 SECONDS)BETWEEN ORANGE TO RED SIGNAL ? IT WILL B VERY EASY TO MAKE A DECISION WETHER TO PASS OR NOT !!!!!!
