Strange indeed. How does the law allow it. More importantly, did she do the right thing ?

Husband pawns wife for money to buy drugs

A husband in Sri Lanka pawned his wife to his friend for 90 days to borrow Rs15,000 from him to buy drugs, the ‘Mirror’ newspaper has reported.

But the husband got a shock when his wife, a mother of two, refused to return to him after 90 days. Her ‘new owner’ also refused to let her go. They like each other.

The husband then approached the Dambulla police station for help to get his wife released.

Hope her husband's friend would not make an other deal. " the best of you are those who behave gently with your wife"

Kiwi: you'll be begging to come home when she pimps you out to a bloke! (Or maybe you won't) ;-)

Once, I offered (in Qatar Living) to donate my husband for free.

No takers!

Some people don't appreciate free gift.

Sometimes I wish that my wife would pimp me out.

Yes agree with Brit...or maybe she must have been waiting for a way out from her sick husband!!

Good! Any bloke that pimps his wife out, doesn't love and respect her and certainly doesn't deserve her. If the other bloke makes her happy, go for it.

Perhaps the simple answer is that she had nowhere else to go and could not support herself or her children..

we all know the husband is the bad guy in this story. but why did the lady (mother of 2) agree to her husband's decision of pawning her and staying with a stranger for 90 days? Normally any wife would have left the husband then and there itself instead of living with another guy.

Good for her!

Lucky Luciano... guess the husband is not sl? lol

Default in Contract. The aggravated party may consider invoking rights and remedies available to him under the Terms & Conditions of the Contract :)

Nissanka - I was in SL for 3 weeks in last Month and I can assure you that not only the Politicians but General Public is also corrupt. There are few exceptions but it is a small minority.

Surely the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the husband..

MM .. u r crazy.. why would she even care for her so called husband trust... u actually blaming her in this incident ?? that's crazy !!

By Mr M.• 12 Sep 2013 08:51
Mr M.

So the 'friend' won't give back the man's wife because he 'likes' her and the woman won't go back to her husband because he is abusive and a drug addict.Absolutely ridiculous.

it is not sad at all... who would want a piece of s**t husband like that... no wonder she does not want to come back.. and btw.. what does pawn mean.. did she have to do household works ? did she have to fulfill spousal duties too... and btw.. nobody can pawn nobody.. wife is not a slave.. or thing you can use as a pledge for the loan.... so anyone would be better than husband like that... good for her.
