I would suggest enough to make him realise that he was wrong but enough to kill him?

I'm not saying it shouldn't be a capital offence but at the moment it isn't.

I would probably have reacted in a similar fashion myself but would like to think that I knew when to stop and call the cops.

Yes, I was a little worried about that , but I suppose emotions and adrenaline take over and you lose control..

nope...he deserved it...figure how many times he already got away with it...and how many more he would commit..

as a dad...i have no problem with what the fellow did..

"in the act" then he deserved to be beaten but maybe not to such an extent that he died.

I don't like the US terminology of "use deadly force".
