How fair is this?
I just happened to make a deal with a person in the Classified section for a car that i liked and was willing to buy it based on the pictures he posted (time and place was fixed for meeting). In fact, it was a word made to him.
But while i was enroute to his place, I rang him up to find out his villa Number while i was outside the compund(I had my token amount ready with me). He answered the phone and I could not believe my ears when he said that he sold the car to another person who offered him more money.
The point is..... how fair is it that the person can actually sell it off for more money when a word was already given.?
Dont hurt me more with crappy comments, already sad :-(
Plenty of bad morals around this place hamood, did you ever buy anything on the pearl...........
that shows bad moral.
ahh the seller should have informed you of the new buyer and let the two of you bid each other out. could have pocket a better sum in the end. purely business...
"just say something..."
its not fair however he has the right to change his mind as an owner..he will go to the most favorable one that benefit him most.
several times happend to me thalib... infact was into the business for long time...
everyone looks for good offer... they have no concern that who's interested or how much difficulty one is facing chasing their place...!
and maybe we talking to the other party, a poor seller who had not yet sold his car! Will Brit say the same thing too? hopefully!
"I'm back, simple as that"
Actually I am surprised the seller didn't call you when he got the higher offer and try to get you to bid higher.
It is economics. Higher demand warrants a higher price. You had only decided on the phone that you wanted the car. Now what if you suddenly saw a better deal and decided not to go for the first one, would you stick to your word or screw some unknown person ?
Or maybe the seller was unaware of the market price and you decided to take advantage of it. Why else would anyone pay higher than the market price if the item isn't worth it.
Welcome to the world.
That's the problem, its a ethical dilema rather than a legal one.
Remember all the gazumping in the UK Brit and Timebandit? Nothing is finished until contracts change hands....
By nature I am an optimist, but bitter experience has taught me to expect the worst....
I am almost sure that somebody would have offered him a higher offer based on the fact iam actually buying it. Why else would somebody be crazy to offer a higher price on car for which the owner just wants a particular amount? huh?....
Go get him Drac
Shame!
Gimme his address..I should visit tonight...
Without all the blood...for what do you need money? :)
did he tell you that he would sell it if he got a higher offer?
I'm with Britex, it's just a shame the rest of the World can't get on board.
The only honour left these days is the Honour Among Thieves.
ES... very gud question,,, well,, once i did sell a vehicle to a person to whom i made a deal by word, even though there was this other person who offered me more for it. That is probably the reason why i have tend to have seemed it was not fair.
May be different wavelengths of the thinking spectrum. :-)
A verbal contract should be just as binding as a written one.
IMHO , if an agreement was reached, then it should have been honoured.
maybe Allah is keeping a better car for you, who knows.. keep trying, you might find one with low-mileage, scratch-less, good attractive colour, new tyres, full-option, or maybe still under warranty =D
What would you have done in his situation? No contract was signed and no money had changed hands. Its not nice but its fair.
this isn't fair but u are too late
