How to extend visitor visa?

QHell
By QHell

What is the procedure to extend a 14 days visitor visa to 28 days?
Original visitor visa was issued at the airport immigration office before the visitor's arrival.

To extend does he need to go himself or can the sponsor do it himself. What is the procedure?

Thanks in advance.

One day, this american guy met this Filipina lady and told her: " You are always smiling and cheerful"! She replied back: Being Happy is part of my personality. One year later, the same american Guy, Met the same lady at a coffee shop and told her: "You still have the same smile from the first time we met", Could I borrowed it?  She replied: "Sure Mr." But is not a smile anymore! Why? asked the American.Because the dollar devaluated causing the peso to be worthless, My smile is from economic shock! Enjoy and sorry for hijacking your thread....   The Red Pope of Qatar LivingBut as Muhammad Ali once said, 'It's not bragging, if you can back it up'."

I am told that it's not possible to have visa extension at the office near the airport. Any can confirm this to me, I have 1 month visa.

Thank you,

It's expensive, but most people I know have used visa hops at some point, usually when they first start working in a country, or have been seconded to an office in another gulf country for a few months.

Thanks for you help but, as I explained, when I buy my tickets for a return UK-Qatar-UK I purchase a low cost ticket. i.e. it isn't 'open return' because that would cost several £100s more. Also the tickets I buy are the lowest fare for a direct flight - this means I can't mess with the return part of the ticket because to alter that date is prohibited. To change it would cost the equivalent of buying a completely new ticket.

You said "u cannot show a ticket with days more than her visa" - which is exactly what puzzled me in QHell's comment above. QHell said the friend's visa was extended THE NEXT DAY AFTER ARRIVAL. So the friend must've come in on ticket for a longer stay than the regular 14 day Visa would allow.

However, according to Lima there seems to be not problem, so I will go and read her PM to check.

Thanks again.

Askh: So what is your sister's return ticket? For 2 months??? Open? And did she get a 14 day visa to start with.

I'm talking about traveling on a British Passport from UK and back, by the way - not sure where others are from and how the Visa situation is.

cmon...get her a 14 days air ticket return (or maybe open flight for return)then if u extend her visa that's the time u will rebook her ticket to change the date..because its depends how strict ur immigration law in ur country...for common sense, u cannot show a ticket with days more than her visa, even if u will renew it or not..its better if its until her visa tenure expiration or shorter....YOU GET WHAT I MEAN?? lol doesnt help.trying to help/advise u man....

I have come here 3 times to visit my Husband beofe finally come here to live. Even though I told them I was here for 2 weeks holiday and my ticket had the return date on, each time at the airpot they automatically gave me a month visa. One of the times my Mum was with me & they also gave her a 1 month visa.

So I would presure that they will automatically give your sister the same. Unless anyone else know different.

Are you talking about the visa or my sister's air ticket?

I will purchase her ticket before we leave the UK and I'm trying to find out if it's OK to book her for a 3 week return ticket. It's my understanding that you can only get a Visa for 14 days on arrival, but then extend it later if you want to.

What I'm asking is if it's OK to book her ticket for a 3-week return, even though the Visa will be for 14 days (initially).

Will immigration query her ticket. Do you see what I mean? lol

OH! And if you DO mean the ticket, then it would cost me a LOT more than QR100-200 to change the return date. I buy the cheapest ticket I can and those aren't 'changeable' unless you pay a lot of money to do so.

so I hope QHell wont mind me tagging my query on to this thread and maybe will have the answer I'm looking for.

I have invited my sister to visit us in Doha in January. I haven't booked her flight yet and know that we can obtain a 14 day visitor's visa for her on arrival at DIA.

My question is this.

If she would like to stay for, say, 3 weeks and so I book a return flight for that duration, what happens at DIA when she arrives with a return ticket dated 3 weeks after her arrival?

I can see from QHell's post that it shouldn't be a problem to extend her Visa at the Airport AFTER her arrival but, if immigration see her visit is for THREE weeks, will they still issue her with a TWO week visa irrespective of what her ticket says?

Grateful to anyone who may have the answer to this.

QHell? What was the duration of YOUR visitor's return flight ticket, please. I guess it was for a stay longer than 2 weeks, otherwise you wouldn't have wanted to extend the Visa.

===========================================

Thanks everyone:

My guest is here since yesterday on a 14 days visa. Today I went to the airport.

Asked the concerned officer for an extension.

1- He took the original passport

2- Extended the visa for 14 additional days from the date of first period expiry.

3- Charged me QR 50/-

4. No additional document required

5. Came out happy

God Bless Qatar for simplifying a very tedious process.

Its better if the sponsor goes to the immigration to extend the visa but firstly the sponsor has to fill (get it typed) the visa renewal application form and sign it.

You may submit the renewal form to the immigration pay QR. 50/- and the visa will be extended for another 14 days.
