who believes our shallow dailies anymore. the country is boiling,Two minsters were replaced & no-one knows what's really going on.yet, all what you read in the newspapers are about cross dressing, aliens in cournich or HMC doctors converting patients to Christianity!!!

I agree that it's not only in the UK that these things happen, they happen everywhere, but where there isn't free expression such subjects are hidden.

I find it interesting that the local newspapers will publish the information because it happened out of their own country however you rarely hear about car accidents, abuse, etc over here. We know the they all happen but they turn a blind eye.

I understand they want to protect their people and having been wronged in another country is fair enough, however it is not just Qatari people who are robbed. People get robbed every day, it is very rare that people are specifically picked to be robbed because of their race. It would be as someone said above that their possesions would have been noticed such as the phones, watches etc.

Guys it aint racial...Please dont divert this,,,I lived for past 4 years in the UK.

there is no strict control from the police side over some teenagers...

how on earth burglary report become a 'racial attack' ??? As someone else mentioned do you think the burglar checking the tenant's passport before robbing the house???

What are you on about CBD?? Everyone from west is accepting that there are problems, the opposite cannot be said.

Theft happens in Qatar and in UK. However in UK it is more often than Qatar not because Qataris are better than British but social conditions has a role though we are all human.

Let us not drift away because this may bring up the life of a human being recently taken by a drunk man!

Yes also take it up with British embassy on behalf of your Hubby. So if we Brit start reporting how many times we have experienced crime in the Gulf countries.. Imagine what the heading would read in the News Of the World.. "House of Brit Expats in Qatar Burgled"

I am off to Indonesian embassy to report the robbery happened in my house sometimes ago !

forgot to add all the police did was look at car, didn't take any forensic eveidence, gave me a crime number for insurance claim and a phone number for a 'counselling' service if i had become traumatised by the experience - thats it.

Even when my car got broken into when i was working in Zimbabwe they took prints etc.

For sure brit, would prob used to ram-raid primark.

Though the pink might put them off, that one thing i have noticed compared to UK, local guys dont seem so worried about having a pink - pimped out car, pink mobile etc which in west would be marketed as a female product.

but then again my old Lada Samara got broken into and they stole the cassette player! not CD! and that was only as couple yrs ago.

Well, I am surprised that Qatari press reports this incident because it very usual. If every Qatari robbed in UK was reported, newspapers will have double the number of pages.

Theft is a very common act in the UK especially by those under age guys.

Also because of crazy political correctness every incident involving a white person and any non white race will automatically be investigated as a race crime. But say a pakistani attacks an Indian or a Carribean guy attacks an African, they are not.

Well I was in the Uk last summer and saw a number of flash Cars near Marble Arch with Qatari number plates.

Now the point here is that this kind of crime could happen any one irrespect of the nationality or ethinic back ground.

Just like any where in the world you have to take precautions and do not show off.

One of my other friend left without finishing her studies, Just because one of the similar incident..She is still afraid to go back to UK.

After all she paid 11000 on her studies and she couldn't even finish it...May be later she will go..University is helping her to get a break in between and all...Good part..

- True it is common used and seeing as indians are called it as well it shows the ignorance of the people.

But! it is illegal to use the phrase and you can be arrested or instantly fired from your job etc for using it.

All I can say is that they should be thankful they were not harmed. The crime rate is really really bad and the fact that they were burgled without being harmed is a blessing... material things can be replaced, at least they are all safe... and as mentioned before I doubt it had anything to do with them being this or that nationality.... Burglers steal and dont care where they are stealing from..... Thank God we live in a relatively safe part of the world though crime is going up here too.....

Racist attacks are becoming very common in UK these days...

Nationality is not the only issue….money....personal revenge…sex…etc.. there are cases of attacks on all nationals including Brits..

Their motives may be different...among many other reason...Racism is also one of the major cause for such attacks..

this attacks are getting very common in the UK nowdays. I was in manchester the previous year. I was attacked by shoplifters while working in a shop..They took the whole money from the till in the shop...They were pointing knife on my kneck...

After couple of months, in scotland, when we guys were walking on the street with two bottles of alcohol for a Bday party...These Junkies on the road came and attacked us for this bottles and it turned out to be a big fight..

We were after the court for longer time for defending ourselves. Then suddenly the victim support people helped us from their side. They were really good..we got claim of around 1000 pounds ...(NB: This is the cost of my friends broken arm and a cut on my head:( Not worth it) ) Is it?

To be honest with u, and i aint saying they deserve it at all, but i always see guys from the gulf showing off their nice phones, watched designer clothes etc in the UK... in a place like Cambridge, seeing guys dressed like that would catch your eyes and knowing they are from the gulf, well there u go...

I'm more shocked that the Qatar papers are bothering to report it. I doubt the robbers had any idea what nationality the people in the house were.

The sad thing is if those Qataris had attacked the burglers they would probably be deported.
