go back to Honda as you said its just 2 days. Demand them to see whats wrong as you have paid for it.

They should be able to check and even rectify it free of cost as your case is just 2 days old. Dont delay go soon !

Sell your Honda and buy a Toyota or Nissan or...

By anonymous• 9 Dec 2010 15:50

remove it yourself and have a look at the condition. Sometimes can be clogged due to bad driving conditions like sand / dust / etc .. no harm in checking takes 5 mins.

I already changed that with a new one from HONDA qatar itself. Still the same friend

There is a Cabin Air Filter which you need to check its behind the glove box compartment.

Remove it and check its state. I had to get my filters ordered from US coz Honda was asking me a fortune for a filter which i got to Qatar from the US for a mere 100 bucks.

Change ur filter and the problem will be solved.

Again...Honda have checked in 3 times... But they couldnt identify the problem. Only the people who have honda Civic or above can understand what kind of smell is this. Its not any other smell from inside or outside.

Sulphur Dioxide does not smell like rotten eggs.... you do! and of course Hydrogen Sulphide.

By anonymous• 9 Dec 2010 14:46

Then it might be the socks!

By anonymous• 9 Dec 2010 14:42

The A/C does not generate air it only takes air from within the car and from outside and cools it before it is blown into the car. The outside air (Fresh air) or the air inside the car may be stale and that is only the cause.

And make sure it's not a "smelly bachelor" who checks your car. He probably won't "smell" anything.

By somwerNdmiddle• 9 Dec 2010 14:37

have it checked by Honda then, one of the most common causes of odors in car ACs are molds, that's the best option for you right now bring it back to Honda

It could be the A/C filter or possibly water condensing inside the grill , which then becomes mouldy and smells..

Alternatively, it could be your socks...

hi Blue pather thats not the case. Yesterday changed the air filter, cleaned the evaporator, Cleaned with Guard X antibacterial. Still the same.. So its not that....

By anonymous• 9 Dec 2010 13:40

you would require to spray your air vents with an anti bacteria spray to clear out the bacteria/mold in the air filter. Alternatively change your air filter.

There is also a possibility that a "friendly" neighbour would be putting foodstuff down your car aircon vents which would account for the bad smell and no spray would cure that :-)

Its really happening for all. I went to the service center and they claims no body have complained. They have tried there best to fix it. But they couldnt. Now they say no smell. But i am still getting the smell. All ur comments were right. When give accelaration. Do anybody have idea where to find an air monitor or a smell detector. How can we check this is harmfull.

I'm too facing this smell in my Accord 2007.

By lunituna• 9 Dec 2010 12:16

i have Pilot and I have experianced the same. Especially when you have Patrol full tank and give a quick pickup.

The smell is close to Sulpher Diocside (rotten egg smell). What I heard was that the smell is caused by the michanism in the car to reduce CO (Carbon Monocside) discharge which converts CO in to a gas which is smelly. Keep your Air Circulation switch on while driving to reduce the smell coming in. But you can't stop it.
