HMC renovating existing facilities

The Hamad Medical Corporation is undertaking an extensive renovation and refurbishing of its existing facilities at Hamad Hospital and Women’s Hospital to provide high quality healthcare to patients.
According to a spokesperson, every effort will be made to ensure that any disruption to services was kept to an absolute minimum. However, he said there will be changes to the way in which both buildings are accessed and patients, their families and other visitors have been advised to take note of the changes.
At the WH, all outpatient clinics and appointments will continue to operate as normal, however, the entrance to the Outpatient department has been temporarily closed. 
Patients will instead need to access the department through the main entrance of the hospital while a temporary entry route has been specially sign-posted to help patients and visitors find their way easily and safely.  
Whereas work at the Hamad Hospital starts from  August 10, the main entrance lobby area of the hospital will be closed for renovations until after six months.  
Lobby services will be relocated to other areas of the hospital and alternative entrances will be provided while the temporary alternative entrance for patients and visitors, located to the left of the closed main entrance on the female side of the outpatient department, will be clearly marked.
Several traffic lanes in front of the Hamad Hospital’s main entrance will be blocked to accommodate the construction project and spaces in front of the temporary alternative entrance will be reserved for patient’s drop off and pick up only.  
“Although, we have worked to plan and manage traffic flows throughout this phase of the renovation, there may be delays. To avoid delays, patients and visitors are advised to arrive 30 to 45 minutes early for appointments at Hamad Hospital,” the spokesperson said.
Also, a number of services have been relocated in the hospital.
Services currently offered in the lobby area will be relocated to other parts of the hospital, as follows:
l The Admitting department will be located at the registration area of the female outpatient department.
l Cashiers will be located at the registration area of the male outpatient.
l Female OPD patients will register for their appointments at the registration counter in the male OPD.
l ATMs will be available in the OPD lobby and the Hamad Hospital visitor lift lobby leading to inpatient rooms.
lHelpdesk staff will be placed near the temporary main patient and visitor entrance.
l The flower shop will be temporarily relocated in the corridor near the visitor lift lobby.
l Mutawa offices, security and lost and found will be temporarily housed in the female OPD. These offices will be clearly sign-posted.
