Hezbollahaha lines up against Qatar

Rip Cord
By Rip Cord

The Syrian situation just got worse with Hezbollahaha enter the conflict on the side of Shia Muslims saying that they cannot except a Sunni Muslim victory. With Israel also involved in limited military exchanges, Qatar and Saudi supplying arms and money to Sunni factions, Syria has become what the world dreads. An unending conflict of mass slaughter.

---------------------
The leader of the Lebanese Shia militant Hezbollah movement, Hassan Nasrallah, has promised his supporters they will prevail in Syria, where they are backing President Bashar al-Assad.

"This battle is ours... and I promise you victory," he said in a TV address.

Syrian rebels in the besieged town of Qusair say they are under heavy bombardment from Hezbollah combatants.

The town is close to the Lebanese border, a conduit for both the government and rebels to get weapons.

In the speech from an undisclosed location, Mr Hasrallah said if Sunni Islamists took over in Syria, they would pose a threat to the entire Lebanese population - Shia and Sunni Muslims, as well as Christians.

He said his movement could never be aligned with Syrian rebels who, in his view, were supported by the United States and Israel.

I should the intelligence services of about 50 countries have people in Syria at the moment, either watching or actively aiding one side.

This could last as long as the Lesbanese civil war the way it looks now.

The picture in Syria is not black and white. The CIA is definitely in Syria and working behind the scenes to help the rebels and destabilize the Assad regime.

However, the 'rebels' are also split between good rebels and bad rebels. so, it's getting complicated

not really - still plenty is troops in Iraq with the biggist embassy in the world and loads of mercinaries ready to intervene in case things go against US interests.

Anyway - who cares what america wants?

By Rip Cord• 27 May 2013 12:36

Splitt you are right about Iran and that is why Saudi and Qatar are funding the Sunni Rebels in Syria as they want to reduce the influence of Iran.

The Americans in Iraq left them a big problem as the Shias took control and became aligned to Iran. They don't want it to happen again.

I could see the US providing air cover but not men on the ground. How would a full scale military incursion be in the US interests?

By SPLITT• 27 May 2013 12:19
SPLITT

rip Cord - so you have no evidence. Ok then.

US and opposition calling for "humanitarian" corridor. With this "humanitarian" character, such a corridor would be carved out by means of US airstrikes and ground operations, and will serve as a safe-zone, allowing rebel militias to regroup without fear of attack by Assad’s forces. The creation of such a safe-zone would require major deployments by the US and its allies. As usual, the language of humanitarianism is being applied to cover a full-scale military incursion by the US.

Good point BE, the very direct action hezbollahaha has put the US in a bit of quandarry. The US badly wants to stay out of Syria but if Hezbollah makes inroads into Syria with Iranian backing, that gives them a strong power base in two countries and enhances their strike capability against Israel.

Israel and US care indeed as they prepare for another war of aggression this time with Iran. Qatar is certainly aiding and abetting this process giving rise to chaos and funding the islamic extremist the west cry about when they get hit. What else do you expect.

By Rip Cord• 27 May 2013 11:20
Rip Cord

That's a pretty big leap of faith to take, just because Israel is the enemy of Hezbollhaha does not automatically make Qatar the ally of Israel.

Hezbollhaha has taken sides in the Syria conflict for it's own ends and that is to stop the Sunni rebels taking control, they want a Syrian future to be Shia and therefore aligned with themselves and their ally Iran. Saudi and Qatar very much do not want that. Israel doesn't really care as long as Syria remains weak and not a threat.

I have no opinion on what side Qatar wants to support, I do not know who is right or wrong in this civil war, although the government of Assad has committed many atrocities in the past against the Syria people.

The point is now that Hezoballha have entered the conflict we have many players in Syria and this conflict will drag on for years now with many killed. It also has financial implications for Qatar. Will they now fund the groups they support indefintley? That could be a lot of money wasted.
