Henry robbery
Following France's shameful progress to the world cup, I can only come to the conclusion that there is ZERO honour left in football. Has there ever been any honour in the game? In any other sport Thierry Henry would be shamed into making an admission of guilt but not in football. What kind of sport allows that to go unpunished? The people that run the game are a complete joke. Henry is just as guilty as the Bahraini athlete who was banned for doping during the week. FIFA talk about 'Fair Play' all the time with their stupid 'Fair Play Awards' that mean nothing. If fair play means anything then the game should be replayed. If we had done this I would be embarrassed and I would not want to go to the World Cup like that. People still talk about the 'hand of God' with good reason. It proves that footballers will do anything to gain an advantage. Kevin Doyle says he does not blame Henry!! Why not??!! Why are footballers allowed to hide behind the referee? Why not call the foul on himself like they do in golf, snooker or cricket? Because football is just about money and screwing people over. Henry had a brief moment when he could have come clean and been a true beacon of fair play. Instead he chose to celebrate with his team mates and then pretended to be sorry at the final whistle when it was too late. So having passed up the chance to be a man and prove that there is some decency left in the game, he just confirmed that cheating is endemic in football. This 'superstar' will lead his side out at next year's World Cup.
When you are on the pitch running, being pushed, pulled, spitted, insulted, kicked... everything is different...and every single player will take the most of every chance to make his team to win... yes i think there is a FIFA conspiracy around France team since the final in France when Brazil team seemed to allow France to win, same when in Germany semis Brazil again seemed to allow France to win... but to the action by Henry and Maradona, and many others..i just think they as players do the best in all terms..even cheating if they can...and i think is not a matter of ethics is just a game......
If Maradona "Hands of God" are part of human cheat, divine given and referee error in top football, then Henry's case could be part of its phenomena. Football game is unpredicable, just like the saying says..the ball is round
i remember once when Robbie Fowler who was awarded a penalty when playing for Liverpool, walking up to the referee and confiding that it was not a penalty.. byegone eras i say...
