Help, wireless won't connect
This morning neither of my computers would connect to the internet. After re-booting everything the (hard-wired?) desk top is fine, but while the laptop recognizes the usual wireless network, it says that the "association" and thus the connection has failed. I've tried all that my extremely minimal knowledge and experience and help menus can think of. What is an "association" and how can I fix this? And remember that I'm blonde, so keep it really simple ( and my husband is even blonder than I am so no joy there.) I have a relatively new Lenovo (IBM) and the wireless has connected automatically everywhere else. Please help or I will tear out the rest of my (blonde) hair!

have something called 'Connection Manager' that would help you crate many profiles and save the passwords of those wireless networks so whenever you go, you have to just pick up that profile and you are already connected.
It will take over your windows wireless zero configuration and sometimes it might even stop it. You have to make sure that this services is still running and that your wireless connection properties had the 'use windows to configure my wireless network settings' checked.
Someone in our office had this issue and i can see that he was feeling bad about it, but problem was fixed :)
To make sure that the mentioned service is running:
Start--> Run --> type there this phrase without the quotes 'services.msc' and from there look for this service 'wireless zero configuration' and make sure that it's set to 'Startup Type:Automatic' & 'Status:Started'.
If you have windows vista, renewing the connection would do. Either right click on the connection and choose 'repair' or go to the:
Start --> Run --> type there 'cmd' without the quotes and a black screen should appear.
Type there:
ipconfig /release [there is a space between ipconfig and /release]

It started around 3AM this morning. So far it's back. Thought it was my subscription problem...

@madilulur,
If the wireless is On and u can see the wireless LED on in the router , then the problem is probably the pc. If the wireless LED is off then the problem is with the router.
If wireless LED is on, give this a try.
Delete all the wireless network connection profiles in ur computer , turn off the wireless adapter hard button , restart ur pc , switch on the wireless hard button and try to connect.
If it doesnt work..try to disable and enable the wireless of the router whcih can be done in 192.168.1.1 and default password is admin admin
@ janeyjaney, I think ur referring to Qtel modem ..it does happen.
Best u go for a wireless router ..it costs around 220 - 600 riyals. the minimum one is enough.
janey... is acting? perhaps your router needs a DIRECTOR... so that it might perform well...:D
Ah! My router which was supplied by Qtel is acting up! I have to switch it off and on hundreds of times just to get a proper internet connection!
The thing has been there for a year, should I have it changed for a new one?
