Help overwhelmed by cars
HI everyone
I want to buy a new 4WD but only want to spend about 80000, was thinking a Kia, Hyundai or a Nissan X-Trail - what does everyone think, the Kia sportage offers roadside assist - 5 yr warrenty open Kms - up to 40000km servicing and i think this is the best looking car - but i am a bit afraid of resale - anything know more aboiut the resale of these cars!!!
Cheers
See my point?!
I do hope everybody realizes that we are buying a car first for the reason to use it and not to re-sell it. initial investment should weigh more in consideration than the re-sale value.
I hope to get one Santa Fe when i get there in qatar. it is one of the most reasonably priced SUV but with a HIGHER SAFETY RATING than most of the popular brands!
cheers to you!
re-sale, jrdebug, what you are saying was exactly my husband argument. 5 yrs ago we bought hyundai santa fe only 55.000 QR brand new. Another 4WD car will cost alot more than that. So our first capital for the car only 55.000 QR, even now we can write the car off because we been using it for 5 yrs.
I'm just wondering what is it about the resale argument.
In my case, I had to choose between a toyota corolla, hyundai accent and a chevrolet optra. all my friends advised me to go for the corolla due to the resale value. but when i compared them point-by-point, especially with the initial investment, basically they are the same.
look, the corolla 2005 was 51,000 that time, and the optra was 36,000. accent was a little cheaper than the optra. from here you will actually see that the difference is already 15,000 between the corolla and the optra! and we are just comparing base models here. the corolla is all manual (gears, windows, locks, mirrors) while the optra is already power-featured! plus the looks is really eye-catching! after 5 years, the corolla may sell for 20,000-22,000 and the optra may sell for 9,000-12,000 but what the heck! i am the first user, my initial investment isn't that much and it really makes me look better when i'm behind the wheel of the optra!
i am using my optra for a almost two years now and so far, no qualms about it!
We have Santa Fe (5 yrs old), so far trouble free. Korean car not too good for resale value. If you only here for 1 or 2 yrs i think you should get a better brand.
