HEALTH TIP OF THE WEEK
Allow your car interior to breathe
OPEN THE WINDOWS AFTER YOU ENTER YOUR CAR.
According to research done by a University of California , the car dashboard, seats, air freshener will emit Benzene, a Cancer-causing toxin (CARCINOGEN).
In addition to causing Cancer, it poisons your bones, causes, anemia, reduces white blood cells and Prolonged exposure may also cause the following:
1. Leukemia.
2. Increasing the risk of CANCER
3. It may also cause MISCARRIGE
Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft. A car parked indoors with the windows closed will contain 400-800mg of Benzene. If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2,000-4,000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level. The people inside the car will inevitably inhale an excessive amount of toxins.
It is recommended that you open the windows and doors to give time for the interior to air out before you enter. Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidneys and liver, and is difficult for your body to expel.
Hope it will be of benefits to you & others.
Wishing you all a happy healthy life!
I love it... "It was on TV so it is true.."
I need a reference from a medical journal. IF your car can omit more benz than smoking I would be seriously surprised. If this is the case, walking in the mall alone would be far more hazadous to your health.
At any rate, good post..

Health effects
Benzene exposure has serious health effects. Outdoor air may contain low levels of benzene from tobacco smoke, automobile service stations, the transfer of gasoline, exhaust from motor vehicles, and industrial emissions.[17] Vapors from products that contain benzene, such as glues, paints, furniture wax, and detergents, can also be a source of exposure, although many of these have been modified or reformulated since the late 1970s to eliminate or reduce the benzene content. Air around hazardous waste sites or gas stations may contain higher levels of benzene.
The short term breathing of high levels of benzene can result in death, while low levels can cause drowsiness, dizziness, rapid heart rate, headaches, tremors, confusion, and unconsciousness. Eating or drinking foods containing high levels of benzene can cause vomiting, irritation of the stomach, dizziness, sleepiness, convulsions, and death.
The major effects of benzene are chronic (long-term) exposure through the blood. Benzene damages the bone marrow and can cause a decrease in red blood cells, leading to anemia. It can also cause excessive bleeding and depress the immune system, increasing the chance of infection. Benzene causes leukemia and is associated with other blood cancers and pre-cancers of the blood.
Human exposure to benzene is a global health problem. Benzene targets liver, kidney, lung, heart and the brain and can cause DNA strand breaks, chromosomal damage etc. Benzene causes cancer in both animals and humans. Benzene was first reported to induce cancer in humans in the 1920s. The chemical industry claims it wasn't until 1979 that the cancer inducing properties were determined "conclusively" in humans, despite many references to this fact in the medical literarure. Industry exploited this "discrepancy" and tried to discredit animal studies which showed benzene caused cancer saying that they weren't relevant to humans. Benzene has been shown to cause cancer in both sexes of multiple species of laboratory animals exposed via various routes.[18][19]
Some women who breathed high levels of benzene for many months had irregular menstrual periods and a decrease in the size of their ovaries. It is not known whether benzene exposure affects the developing fetus in pregnant women or fertility in men.
Animal studies have shown low birth weights, delayed bone formation, and bone marrow damage when pregnant animals breathed benzene.
Benzene has been connected to a rare form of kidney cancer in two separate studies, one involving tank truck drivers, and the other involving seamen on tanker vessels, both carrying benzene laden chemicals.

eu61, a fish is not a human......;)
one day my friends decided to make a joke on me,
so they put a dead fish below one of the car seats...
Imagine the smell of the car after one day parket at sun.
I dont know flanostu, but I think it was worst... it was not human...

Supernurse your comments always make me smile anyway I,m going to open the windows of my car starting from tomorrow.
Its scaremongering!!!Where did this info about opening car doors come from??!! I don't doubt benzene is dangerous btw.....
Thanks for the info, good ones.. keep up..
Cheers....
Some people when entering their cars have bad breath smelling like Benzene, others cars smell like ashtray or a bad case of foot fungi after a 12 hour shift. In the summer could you imagine the cluster of smells of sweat, cologne or perfumes.
It is a smelly world full of toxins....

Qatman, the information is correct, i have seen this on television...

lol Flan...Its a good tip, but it seems like everything and anything we do these days is a hazard to our health.
Every_mothers_nightmare, Thanks for the post. Could you post the source of this information as well?
farting in the car is also hazardous.......mainly coz everyone is laughing and you can't concentrate on the road.
thanks for the tip...I really like these posts...better than the junkie-posts we see all the time
