Health Insurance - routine checkup

Many people still don’t understand what a health insurance really is. I am not here to advocate the insurance companies but to point that they don’t pay for a routine “general complete check-up” or what insurance companies call “health and wellness check-up”

People think that if they pay for the insurance they should get back what they paid as medical check-ups. Unfortunately things don’t work that way.

To simplify things, it is like if you want to have “general complete check-up” done for your car and asking the insurance to pay, they won’t. They will pay only if somebody bumps your car. Applying that on the health insurance, they will pay only if your health is bumped by an illness.

ullahsaifullah, I agree with you that it is stealing. Yes indeed some insurance companies cover general checkups if you buy the appropriate plan, but the majority of insured people don't have that plan, thats why general checkup is not covered.

What about insurances companies that don't pay up and client gets paid only after the Financial Ombudsman asks them to pay.

Insurance companies too keep morals aside when they have to pay huge amounts to clients.

But I do agree the cheating is wrong and it applies to both.

There are insurance holders who don’t visit the doc even a single time in one yr....bcos they don’t fall sick. so it will cover those who visit more often...insurance companies are never at loss..

I had a surgery recently which I could have done in any pvt hospital with my insurance…but I did it in Hamad which cost me only 75 riyals...not everyone misuse their privileges provided by the employers..

It is stealing, and patients doing that in fact they are stealing from insurance companies.

This effects on the premiums. The more you abuse an insurance policy, next time they will raise the premium.

Everything that we use ultimately cost us.

A lie is a lie and you cannot ignore this.

Some insurance companies cover general checkups and they have policy plans for it, the only thing is that you or your company has to buy that plan.

Thank you for your advice...but what people normally do is...go to a doc and complain about a fake illness and get all the necessary checkups? :)
