Have the leaders learnt from this sad tragedy

Tens of thousands of people were due to gather at a peace memorial park in Hiroshima on Tuesday to mark the 68th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the Japanese city.

Ageing survivors, relatives, government officials and foreign delegates were to observe a moment of silence at 8:15 am (2315 GMT Monday), the time of the detonation which turned the city into a nuclear inferno.

The Allied powers have long argued that the twin attacks brought a quick end to the war by speeding up Japan's surrender, preventing millions more casualties from a land invasion planned for later in the year.

Tokyo insisted the timing of an annual peace ceremony and the helicopter carrier was coincidental.

Many atomic bomb survivors, known as "hibakusha", oppose both military and civil use of nuclear power, pointing to the tens of thousands who were killed instantly in the Hiroshima blast and the many more who later died from radiation sickness and cancers linked to the attack.

well, their culture dictates that they die fighting than endure the shame of surrender. until they were forced to.

yes, they were brutal and they did a lot of horrible things to many people, including my own. but the greater east asia co-prosperity sphere actually makes sense in theory, at the very least. it was between choosing which colonial master to serve, the west or your fellow asians? i'm not in a position to judge which one is better. in my darker moments i prefer japanese culture to the trashy one we ended up with courtesy of the americans. only because it's more fascinating.

i only wish my grandfathers had fought the japanese for themselves and not for the western masters.

.. as for India leading the world... they will have to give young leaders a chance.. the ones they have now are old, walking wounded, sick and almost loosing their sight and memory and most if not all are puppets of the Italian madam

If we are talking about using nuclear weapons , then yes, the leaders have learned their lesson.

The problem is that the "bogeyman" of nuclear weapons is is used to manipulate the masses.

"Unless India becomes an Islamic country and make peace with Pakistan" made me peep into your profile to understand, WHY? and got all the answers. (I was under the impression you were from Phillipines).

The Japanese got what they paid for TBH. The things they did to eliminate the Chinese in those old days were simply un-imaginable. What the US did was a heaven sent for many of the people in Asia. These white people saved their lives from total annihilation.

We can't say the same thing for the German Nazis though.

Nor the Americans for what they'd done to Vietnam. Throw in Iraq in that midst too.

The very least I think those nations who were occupied by Japan think twice, since if that really happens today they will like to be part of a highly Industrialized country , even Japan suffers reciprocal damage. Than Less damage occupied nations , Japan is a more developed nation.

The Japanese were given lots of opportunities to surrender. They refused.

What they did to this people was simply horrible and the pictures tell a very sad tale of massive destruction to the way of life of a once proud and happy people. They never even gave a opportunity to the others in the world to reach a just solution

Yes world leaders learns something on this, they learn that atomic bomb was not powerful enough to destroy Hiroshima and Nagasaki, still there were so many survivors that when they see up to today,it bleeds their hearts.Thats why they create more powerful nuclear bombs that can melt entire nation and turn all things to dust further reducing more sufferings with an instant death, for those survivors still they die due to nuclear fall outs.So for today those big nations takes the monopoly to acquire and built more nuclear bombs so that they will be called super powers and play little gods. UN is powerless just educating smaller nation to sign non nuclear P-treaty so as not be a part in chaos.

India has to find ways to feed and support their own citizens before they could convinced the world that they can rule Asia.

Unless India becomes an Islamic country and make peace with Pakistan so they could both combined their Nuclear power to convince the Japanese and Chinese to surrender.

Of course Australia (who wants to be the El-Capitan of Asia but not one of Asia) will bark and growls... they'll fall on deaf ears.

In all probability India should be controlling Asia after a few years from now. Watch my prediction if you survive...:)

I think in the future...

Turkey will be the superpower of Europe and Middle East.

China will control Asia.

Mexico will take over the American continent.

So if you hate the west that means you hate the Dutch? The Belgians? New Zealanders? Ireland? Sweden?

Let me go for with the details of what you informed.

Yes, we are discussing a different line in the later and as per me the hatred with west is as of today and nothing to do here with past, because it went much deeper than just a war with the countries and their presence (let us not speak here on this)

Mimi the lack of knowledge of some on QL before shouting about their hatred for the west is not the least surprising.

No wonder they are easily to manipulate by 'evil enemies of humanity'

Jade stick Iwo Jima I google and you will find plenty of info. Those battles I mentioned were during WWII.

To understand the future you need to understand the past.

Too many in QL are blinded by religious intolerance and a hatred for the west. (Although given a chance for a western passport they would sell their own grandmother into slavery)

Obviously when America and western countries attained nuclear weapon status it was terrible and bad.

But when countries like Pakistan and India get nuclear weapons it's "different".

Things are only bad when "the west" does it.

Explain about Iwo Jima, Guam and when was this ?

That recalls me of Japs to be the best warring community in the world dominating over China, Korea and neighbors for around 1500yrs in history.

By Rip Cord• 6 Aug 2013 11:42
Rip Cord

A few points.

Yes we did learn something, atomic bombs are pretty nasty. Never been used since.

The Japs started the war and the Americans finished it. Why should the US suffer 100s of thousands of casualties to defeat Japan when it didn't have to? Learn about Iwo Jima, Guam and the many other battles where the japs fought to the last man.

Ha ha interfering in other countries? Was this after Japan invaded Korea and china, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and then attacked America?

You blind idiots are so funny, you take America's stupid actions in Iraq and then apply it back in history.

We supposedly simple 'humans' also have the same agenda...power and money and have similar animalistic instincts. Only diff is the expanse. How otherwise do we drive rash on roads without giving consideration to other drivers (bigger the car, more authoritative on the roads), torture maids, look down upon people based on skin color, etc etc. I guess none of these actions can be called human either.

By jade03• 6 Aug 2013 11:15

Leaders across the globe have one agenda - power & money

That disallows them to think humanly even though they are at the receiving end. they are greatest example of cannibals and many of us speak, like their speeches, discuss on QL, etc and boost their animal instincts

So many bombs are made to go off in India by terrorists even today. Why would they kill innocent civilians without any motivation or reason. In war atleast there is a reason. QL more looks like 'UShatersliving.com' of late. Can we have a break for sometime till our own country men stop creating mess and killing people else let us concentrate our energies in bringing sense to our own countries in present times before starting to talk of other countries and their policies and what they should do and what not based on what happened in the past. As for non use of nuclear power for civil purposes I guess there arent many options and whatever there are they would today or tomorrow dry out.

They were at the receiving end of millions of killings. Including hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children.

How could they kill so many innocent men, women and children who were not even part of the war or had anything to do with it. The funny thing is that this allied forces are even justifying their actions for carrying out this killings. Perhaps they would understand the sufferings of this innocent victims if they were at the recieving end of this killings.

Well given that nobodies dropped an atomic weapon on anyone since Hiroshima, I would say yes, the leaders have learned something.
