oh btw, money maybe the spices in recipe of this thing called happiness, but not necessarily THAT important ingredient, for if this ingredient is omitted one can still be happy but if it's there as added ingredient, it may spice up a bit or more or may ruin the dish depends on the one who cooks it!
^_^ tsk, tsk, tsk, it only shows i don't have money that's why i choose not to depend it, lol.
in buying something that pave way for loveone's and us being in a state of temporary/longer happiness, it's not because of money or part of it as being "ingredient" (as said above) but 'coz of our positive approach of using money/wiser move of spending it.
if we can recreate the scenario omitting money in the picture, we could still come up the same, but if it's an integral ingredient, whatever we do, we could not make it even to the slightly similar way of recreating it the first place.
if gold or any other precious gems are what we use for buying, are we gonna say now that happiness is gold? or precious gems? of course not.
But the point is "Do you need money to be happy". I suppose this depends on your own personal set of values and if you values are quantifiable by money then power to you .
britexpat, "No money means No China Dolls and No hapiness" - did your Cuban Shot Putter hurt you so bad that you do a 180 degree turn? You poor thing...
Tess ,you dont need money to enjoy the simplest pleasures of life. What does buying a lolly or presents compare with the value of love , laughter and the simplest pleasure of companionship.
Dont you think yours is a rather materialistic measure of what constitutes happiness.
The best things in life are free my old mum used to tell us.
money and happiness should be balance. be realistic, if ur partner have no work, no money. and ur kids are starving and sick, u can be happy with that? of course not. money isn`t always be materialistic. for me money is realistic, we need money for living. even it`s not too much as long as it`s enough we should thankfull and happiness will come along
Like some1 else mentioned, it really depends on how materialistic you are. Money does not buy happiness but it does give u satisfaction to some extent.Satisfaction in a sense being able to provide things for your family etc...
I remember when we moved into our own house. We could only afford plastic garden furnoture, a bed an a cooker. Real basics just to get by . Our only entertainment was a radio sassette player,,,,,,and each other.
However it does not equate to any degree of happiness in reality when you use the principals of trueth , honesty, understanding etc as your own currency of life.
you got a point there yoda, but it might be temporary, but teaching them, letting them know how to put bread in the table for their children would make a lasting happiness than just giving money...
it's like in the old saying, don't give fish, teach them how to fish...
unless we charge for our expertise in teaching them, then it would be free that no money involve, of course how you accomplish it might involve spending money but the idea would be free.
i think it depends on the context, money would bring happiness for someone who does not have enough to buy bread for his children or medicine for his parents.
guess everybody needs money at one point, but you just can't buy someone's time just to laugh with you together, or offer money just to make you smile or not make you sad when you down. although money somehow becomes the way today to make things done, but happiness are just around, it has no price tag, only people put a price on that.
and ofcourse any thing given would be gladly accepted, but doesn't mean happy, it means they just gladly accepted and this is but temporary the same as what money can accomplished.
With money u can help the poor by providing them something like an afternoon meal or dress or anything and u can see the happiness in them and satisfaction in ourselves.
Surplus money is always a burden... but every month with that money if u help some .... u will get both satisfaction and happiness
Happiness is all about attitude towards life. Money is just a tool. Money earned through hard work will keep your attitude on correct altitude otherwise it will drop you on wrong altitude which is grief.
one can live happily without money, but having money doesn't mean you're happy.
it's up to a person how he defines it for you could attain happiness even without spending a single money you're having, or waste millions not attaining even a glimpse of being truly happy.
Pri I agree with you most happiest children on earth and they don't know what is money but there parents do but what about those under privileged kids who can't buy a small chocolate which they desired most because of money and believe me you can ask those kids how important money is.

agreed.
Happiness is there even without money matters. Happiness varies on the persons way of thinking. We can still be happy living simply.
IMHO...

Don't want no drama,
No, no drama, no, no, no, no drama
ya, therefore it s an important ingredient for happiness
Money has a role, a role to provide the three meals and other necessities without which happiness can never be there.
Afterwhich both becomes inversly propotional.

No money..no honey!

Alhamdolliah ,one has to be happy and thank God for what we are and for what we have.Thats the spirit ,Mr.Saif.
I never mentioned in my post that it can buy happiness as it was said that its important ingredient of recipe called happiness.
Like some1 else mentioned, it really depends on how materialistic you are. Money does not buy happiness but it does give u satisfaction to some extent.Satisfaction in a sense being able to provide things for your family etc...
Tess you got the exact point and thats what I really mean.
Masha Allah I am quiet happy and content with life with decent financial condition.

If we can forget money for awhile and trade stuff instead, would that be nice???
Everybody is right everybody is wrong, it depend where you stand

"dgoodrebel will always be the rebellious good one"
Money is important ofcourse.
However it does not equate to any degree of happiness in reality when you use the principals of trueth , honesty, understanding etc as your own currency of life.
Hapiness with money is temporary and basically for material things.
You can be happy / joyful without it...
Money can make you smile...
You can lose friends over money...
You can lose loved ones because of money...
Money is just a useful tool you can use to buy things, It can't help you be happy since happiness is a state of mind.
You can have no money and be happy with the one you love.
You can be sick, and happy that your whole family is around you, wishing you well.
Oh a new set..Probably I need to send ur reply to the lyricist...Good one though..
"Money is very important ingredient of the recipe called happiness"......
I don't think so...
There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved...
.
.happines-yes you can buy it...
.
.but joyfulness?? i doubt it...........
.
i understand what you are saying but i think you misunderstood the point i made.
you got a point there yoda, but it might be temporary, but teaching them, letting them know how to put bread in the table for their children would make a lasting happiness than just giving money...

I agree with Brit, not talking about child/childrens level of happiness, money (enough) will surely plays a big deal about happiness!
"dgoodrebel will always be the rebellious good one"
i think it depends on the context, money would bring happiness for someone who does not have enough to buy bread for his children or medicine for his parents.
Money is not the be all and end all of all happiness. It cant buy happiness.
Money is nice to have, but money can't buy me love (or happiness)... (The Beatles song just jumped in my head and I can't get it out)
guess everybody needs money at one point, but you just can't buy someone's time just to laugh with you together, or offer money just to make you smile or not make you sad when you down. although money somehow becomes the way today to make things done, but happiness are just around, it has no price tag, only people put a price on that.

^_^ philosophical, but true.

Money can buy materialistic pleasures...but it cannot buy happiness...it’s a state of mind. For me Money was never an ingredient for happiness.. I find happiness in many other small/silly things..
Money can cause unhappiness also.
yes! money can buy happiness. If you don't agree, give me some money and I will prove it!
money may buy you every little thing your heart desires but those are just tangibles.. money cannot buy real happiness.
It does sound strange, but for me, money and happiness don't neccessarily go together.
most happiest people in the world are the children who knew nothing about money
