A great gesture by a Landlord

There are many good people in this world..
A small act of Christmas kindness on the part of a Los Angeles landlord has spread across the Internet - restoring some people's faith in humanity.

Tenant's received telling them that because it is the Holiday Season, he is lowering their rent.

Explaining that the generous gesture is a tradition, the landlord known as Joel offers to 'deduct $70 from your regular rent for the month of December and perhaps use those monies to purchase a gift for someone special in your life.'

Telling his tenant's that he is in the fortunate position to be able to offer this, he thanks the recipient of the letter for his continued residence with them, saying that it means a great deal to him.

The rents here are proportion to the salary they pay you here. In other words a stealth tax on your tax free earnings..:)

My Sense said this is not happening in any ...

this is not happening in any Arab countries.. Christmas is for Christians only.

A rather very ignorant statement .

Christians are indigenous to the Middle East, with a presence here predating the 7th century and the Islamic expansion into the Fertile Crescent.

Well the landlord or his middle men reading this might do the same out here for the new year. So keep your fingers crossed and be good and nice to your landlord and his middle men so you can have some good news over the new year period

Our landlord promised us that the renovation of the pool and gym was gonna be finished in June 2012. It would be a good gesture for him not to rip us off and refund a portion of our rent because until now it is not yet finished:(

Housing Accomodation Rates Here In Qatar Is Very Expensive! Unliked, Saudi and Barhain, very reasonable. Qatar is a rich country but the government does no action in lowering the housing rates. We are here to work for your country and save money for our family. How can we save if the housing rates are high? I hope the Sheikh's family and leaders open and use the website qatarliving.com so that this matter will be transparent to them.

Heart warming and lovely gesture.

My Sense : It happens in Eid and Ramadan here. Many stories of noble gestures by Locals.

A thread about a Qatari kind gesture on road was blown out of proption here on QL.

Something pleasantly wrong with US these days. First the police guy in NY who offered his boots and now this one...:)

@ UK...not all middlemen seem to be sharks here. Know a case where the broker helped to get out one of my collegues whom the owner was asking for more money (and threatening) than as per contract or rental law (I am not sure which one) who has to leave the premises upon cancellation of his WP since he resigned from the job.

Believe it or not, this happened in Doha.

My uncle is living here for years and he told me that once his landlord waive his full rent as my uncle was back home on vacation.

I guess those were good old days. Now, we do not deal with landlords directly but rather the Real Estate Tyrants err.. Tycoons.
