Google ANDROID doesn't like QTEL
I have a Google Android phone (i.e. HTC Hero), but the QTEL SIM cannot configure the phone and provides the following error message: "Qtel: Sorry, your phone is not capable of accepting settings at this time... blah blah blah". And because of this, I am unable to set up MMS and 3G internet on my Hero.
I am guess that QTel is behind the 8-ball when it comes to new technological advanced phones - I noticed QTel SIMs are missing the extra (2) copper panels on the chip on other country's "3G" SIMs. Question is, does anyone know if Qtel is capable of handling "Android" phones?
If QTel doesn't like Android, does anyone know if Vodafone can?
Please advise.
Cheers,
Really Olive? Cool!
Did you have to visit a Qtel shop for them to configure it for you, or did you configure it manually? If the later, any chance you can provide me with the settings please?
Cheers,
PS Dream is a great phone I might add ;o)
I have the HTC Dream and its working fine.
Thanks Vignale for the info; unfortunately, the Android is a bit more complicated (and different) and contains the following settings:
Name:
APN:
Proxy:
Port:
Username:
Password:
Server:
MMSC:
MMS Proxy:
MMS port:
MMS protocol: [phone prefixed with "WAP 2.0"]
MCC: [phone prefixed with "427"]
MNC: [phone prefixed with "01"]
APN Type:
I have tried plugging in the info you provided but unfortunately, I am unable to connect to 3G...
Oh well, guess I'll be stuck with 2G.
Cheers regardless!
Try this for 3G/GPRS settings on QTEL
· Connection name: Mobile Internet
· Data Bearer: GPRS or Packet Data
· Access Point Name: gprs.qtel
· Username: gprs
· Password: gprs
· Prompt Password: No
· Authentication: Normal
· Homepage: Wap.freedom.com.qa
· Network Type: IPV4
· Phone IP address: Automatic
· Name Servers: Automatic
· Proxy serv. Address: 10.23.8.3
· Proxy Port number: 8080
It should be possible to set the phone up manually, have you tried that ?
