newkidontheblock, internet cafes in petrol stations are very useful. You give your car for wash/little maitenance, and you are waiting in such cafe for an hour or so.. i always use the internet cafe when i leave my car for the routine maintenance, not to waste time..

NASA needs a boat for Titan's methane lakes. Design one and you'll get the business.

Salad my sister runs a pretty successful business back home and she started with 50,000 Rs, around 1000 Dollars so I know that can happen.

I am just saying that if we had a foolproof method, we would have done it ourselves.

I agree with QS Sandeep, i know people who have started with lot less and become sucessful, when we use term businss do not think of only million dollor stuff.

oh, sandeep, it's not about money! some are able to start a business with zero or even with "minus", with no regiestered company, with no office, with no staff.. only "IMAGE" and crazy mind... and in only 1 year and a half they are not sure what to do with their money.. they bought all available lands back home, they invested in all crapy "funds" they could find, they are travelling, they are spending in irish.. nothing helps..

that's why i say, when you don't know: what and how and why and where, better sit quitely at your little office and be happy to get QR5000 at the end of every month...even 10 mln won't help...

QS I hope atleast you didn't take any of the advices seriously..

salad if we had an idea how to start a business with only 200 K, don't you think we would have done so already...

covered gambling also not too bad..

I ahve got an idea! To set up a charter flights, to let's say Egypt or Syria ya'ani like for organized tourist groups. 3-3,5 hours of heavy gambling on board on the way to destination, then few hours of the local sightseeing and another 3-3,5 hours of gambling on the way back... and all this tax free!

how about MY idea?

you all guys with your miserable "business ideas" in computer services or food... and then you ask: please help, HOW to start, where to start, who i have to contact, where to find the clients.. my advice to all these "BUSINESSMEN": get your QR5000 salary from the employer be happy!!

Training business also not so lucratve. There are other institutions who give courses in Microsoft, Cisco and Oracle...but you may have to keep good trainers... you should have a Prometric center....

"Microsoft, CompTIA, Prometric and teach Computer Exams"??...i thought you whr talkin about cheap stuffs...i agree dubai is the cheapest place in middle east to get stuffs,bt y do u need accredited??

You can't compete in the hardware market. Quality is not wanted, it's cheap stuff. Agents are in Dubai. The only advice would be training, get accredited by Microsoft, CompTIA, Prometric and teach Computer Exams.

Boston...thats a good plan..people in Qatar would love it.. Unfortunately its illegal to have "Happiness" here..Anyways I did work in this field for many years(i mean with computers),so r u planning to start a normal computer supply/sales shop??i do have lots of ideas but it cums with a price;)

though every home nowadays have computers, the sale & service may be high in the market.

but do you know what is the margin they get ?

it is hardly nothing... u search prices of an itm in different shops in Softiel hotel complex.. you wil come to know the cut-throat market .

by the way, thee is a shop for sale in Sofitel ( which is already doing sales & service )...

but not advisable

humm, seems like food is in good demand and i do agree since i have been spending a fair amount of money it.

however could you guys be more specific about it, are we taking about some sort of fast food restrutrant or showrma type.

main concern is finding a good cook?

I am still inclined towards computers becuase that is what we have experience in,

are there any computer shop and food shop owners who can shed some further light, plus appericate more ideas. thanks for you input guys

Get a good location and go for food.....

No matter how hard the recession hits, people have got to eat..

That's what I would do if I had the money...

not a good idea...computer sales and support shops are a plenty here in qatar. try investing your money in food stalls. you will never go wrong with food stalls because people love to eat. find a good place and you'll be earning in less than no time. wish u all the best!
