We are a golfing family. Is it possible to be members and what is the cost?

If your husband is working in Messaid then this may be the place for you. You won't have any problems in getting a game. They have competitions every Friday. The clubhouse has a pool and a small food section serving snacks and drinks.

With desert/sand golf you have a portable piece of plastic grass that you play on. I love it. It's still like real golf with par 3,4's and 5's and water hazards.

Doha Golf Course is beautiful and worth playing a round or two on it. What you could do is volunteer for the Qatar Masters in January. For each day you volunteer you get given a voucher for the Championship course, plus all the volunteers play in a friendly game just after the Masters.

There is only the one main golf course in Doha, that is the Doha Golf Club. Family bembership is around 23K riyals a year. The hardest thing at the moment is getting a membership. It's full. I met someone the other day who is number 61 on the waiting list.

You can pay as you go on this course, they have a 9 hole academy which I think is around 120 riyals at the moment and then you have the Championship course, which can cost around 400 - 550 riyals a round, depending on when you play.

There is a sand course in Messaid and another sand course in Dukhan.
