Girls where will I find a decent hairdresser??
Hi ladies,
Could you please tell me where I can find a decent hairdressers.
Ive been to two so far and I wasnt happy with either result. Before I went to the salons I asked did they do 'meche' and was told they did but when they proceeded to treat my hair they both did something different!!! Maire Claire gave me highlights and La Femme gave me an all over blonde colour that now with time has turned brassy. I even tried to explain to them the procedure of 'meche' but they honestly had no clue what it was.
So all you blonde ladies out there, where is the best place to go to for nice hair colouring?? If you could also please tell me the pricings for meche. I have shoulder length hair and would want a full head done.
Anticipating your replys.....

I use the Hair Salon at Riviera Gardens Compound call 4793803/4793804
I have blonde hair and they do a very good job! Also 'meche' is the L'Oreal brand different shades of blonde highlights which you put on using foils, so just ask for hightlights with foils. The Hair salon above do use L'Oreal.
Ms Amal is an expert in hair, solutions for all problems, she helped me a lot and solved my problem in a very simple way, and affordable price.i cannot imagine myself without her helping me. i am writing this for every girl facing a hair problem.her number is 77248616 if you need it.

I have been to Marie Claire a few times. Not too expansive and really really good.
where is dados?
L went to Glow on the basis of reading this thread ages ago, but ended up with one side of my head shorter than the other...Marie Claire put that right, and I have been regular there for nearly a year now.
However, the American stylist at Dados is also v good, I've not had an appointment with her, but can see her work when I am there having nails done - her clients seem very happy
This is picture is obviously NOT me, I don't smoke..

Dados and Glo are supposed to be good hairdressers
Dados tel 00974 498 0033

Glow 00974 468 9945
better u can do urself
embrosio, sorry to hear about your bad experience at the Ritz :-(
I recommended George for haircuts, but I don't color my hair so can't give a recommendation on that. He's been cutting my hair for about two years and I've never been disappointed. Have also recommended several friends to him and all are happy.
RJ is the best....He is a young Philopina guy, only been here 2 months. Had the best haircut I have EVER had.

Hey, I am an addict to meche/highlighting. So u can easily imagine that it was my biggest concern to find a good(decent) hairdresser here who has a good meche technique. On this site, someone recommended a hairstylist named George at Ritz Carlton. It sounded like he is a genius one so I jumped into the salon for George. He basically f*ed my hair. I have a thick and strong dark hair and asked for dark blonde/caramel meche all over. I even told him specifically how to do/not to do, but he, instead of bleach down my color to dark blonde level, did made my hair into totally WHITE hair first. I was shocked...but George is too confident at his technique.. u know sometimes you can't say you are not satisfied because your stylist is too confident and doesn't listen. He bleached down my hair totally WHITE then put caramel toner on. But it was too late coz it made my hair so damaged..Also it doesn't look natural at all like I asked for.
I think this is a good place to hear opinions, but a recommended stylist to someone doesn't mean he is a good stylist for you.
Try this guy - he is very good!

For those having short straight hair, I have good news.
Twice already, I had my hair cut at Franck Provost (4 Seasons Hotel).
I got a perfect cut for the 1st time in 12 months in Qatar.
The hairdresser gives advises but also follow the requests, doesn't rush until getting the perfect finish. Don't hesitate to explain what you want, how you want it done ; he will take time to do it.
My hairdresser was Maxeem but others are also available, some probably more specialist in short hair.
The price is the average of the expensive hairdresser (Dessange, Sheraton,Diplomatic Club,...) but the result worth the cost 150QAR+.
Sorry for those looking only for the cheap cut, it is not the right place to go to.
I have tried several hairdressers in Doha such as Marie-Claire, Rosy and Dessange. I have short straight hair.
Forget Marie-Claire if you don't want to have a cawliflower style hair. Don't ask me about Rosy where you will have the worse cut.
And run away from Dessange ! I had my hair done by Dessange in many countries but Doha's salon don't meet the expectancy !
Marie, the only French hairdresser of the salon, is not reliable anymore. She is doing a botched job. Her work is far from Dessange standard and she is trying to get the customers for her own business.

my fav is at the intercon Hotel- been with them for the last 4 yrs now(but what may agree with some may not agree with others)
psssst, better out the front than out the back......heheehehhehehhe
Double post!
The Intercon and found them very good, also been to Glow and they too was very good.
Is George still at the Ritz Carlton? What about the Diplomatic Club? Are you still fans of The Glow...did the staff at Toni and Guys ever walk back in?
Moving to Doha next months and worried about the biggest issue - finding the right hairdresser!
Updates please!
George at the Ritz-Carlton is the BEST.
He cuts my hair (short, fine, mostly straight but a little wavy here and there) and my daughter's (long, very thick, very curly), and does a great job with both.
He's really fast, so I always think it won't turn out nice but it always does.
BTW, I've been here 8 years, so you can imagine how many stylists I've tried! Been going to George for about a year and am hoping he won't leave the country any time soon!
hi there
what do you charge for eye brows/upper lip? and what about waxing?
Cheers Nihal
does your wife have a salon or she do inhouse work?
Cheers Nihal
yes i've been to glow many times. just had my nails done again yesterday. but i've had my hair done plenty and they are brilliant with hair. go take a look and talk to them. here is the website off the business card:

Hi i've been out here a short while now and i have a Victoria Beckham hair style that no hairdresser out here can get right and i could do with a good home hairdresser that can speak good english,as i'm scared to let anyone get there hands on my hair at the moment and need some reassurance.
Wow shocking.. I only had great service there.. who helped you there so I stay clear from her?
my experience with la forme was horrible! i paid a hell lot of money to get my hair dyed and cut. i still have no idea why she cut my bangs the way she did but i had to trim them myself after coming home coz it looked hideous. and to top it off i asked her to dye my hair light brown which ended up being really dark. in the end she convinced me by telling me itll turn lighter with time. Its been 4 months and IM STILL WAITING!!
Since I got here, my friend introduced me to La Forme behind Patisserie Suisse and Doha Clinic. Very modern on the inside, they do everything from cuts, colors, manicure, pedicure, facials, make-up, wax .. Great staff.
girls... my heels!

I visited Glow off Salwa road. The lady is Hillary . She is from Orlando,USA & is abbbbbbssoooolutley fantastic.
Her place is large , spacious & very relaxing. service is wonderful. I was soo happy with my hair cut ...looking for a good hairdresser & then going to one in a new place is like a big leap of faith......i paid a little more than I am used to , but i must say that it was worth it.
Her Contact : 6864221
Location:
Her place is 3-5 minutes from Decoration round about. The Merc-benz show room is on yr right hand side, after which is some construction work. In between the construction is a road (presently a dirt road) take that right & follow it straight down past some villas. Her villa has a large sign board at the top that says "Glow".
Hope that this helps anyone else looking for the same.

Hello bride!
Congratulations on your up-coming wedding. When is it? where are you from? I don't know if you read the last post I wrote to you. Try Hillary. She does really beautiful wedding hair, I've seen pictures she has done. I don't know the prices she charges though, you would have to consult with her. I think she may charge more for long hair. check out my other posting becuase i put the contact info. good luck! :-P -Veronica
Hey everyone,
I moved here about 4 months ago so i'm pretty new. I'm from Seattle, Wa in America, and I have a friend here who is also American.
I swear, she is the *BEST*.She is a hairstylist and also is has done my hair for a formal event I went to a few weeks ago, so I know she would do beautiful wedding hair She trained in New York and also the west coast and has tons of experience.
guys, she's pure talent but she's so down to earth and so friendly. i really do not like going to these other salons in Doha. They have given me HORRIBLE cuts and bad color that fades out aftr a few days. AND ON TOP OF IT, THEY ACT SO SNOBBY AS IF THEY have TALENT. It's so frustrating the PURE LACK of proffesionalism in Doha. I have shoulder length hair and this guy at the intercon lopped it off 3 inches after I requested just a trim of a half inch and the sides weren't even. I looked better going in to the intercon than I did LEAVING. ha. anyhow..
I met her through a friend and she's sweet, talented, proffesional and really listens to what you want. I was THRILLED to meet her.
She just opened up a salon here just off of Salwa road. I can't praise her enough, she gave me the best cuts and style of my life and believe me, I am high-maintainance and PICKY about my hair. My friends and I started going to her, and we are addicted. Her new salon and spa is named Glow. She made this beautiful decor in this big villa, it's gorgeous and relaxing.
PLEASE tell her that Veronica sent you to her becuase she gives discounts to her clients that send people to her. :-) :-)
Her name is Hillary and the name of her salon is Glow
her email is [email protected] and the number is 974-686-4221
LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST & CELEBRATE LIFE EVERY DAY!! :-)
I will check all of the above ;-p
hi
i sent you before but got no reply can you please get back to mee soon
Cheers
Nihal
amazing Italian guy..artist in hair style! ...but he is in Toronto..BTW, not as expensive as local "hairdressers" who can ruin your hair in two seconds..sorry...
Hi there
i just went through your advert and need your help
i tryed calling your wife on her number but no one is answering. my name is nihal, im looking for a very proffesional makeup & hair dresser for my wedding which is in DEC. Im currently living in Abu Dhabi. Im coming to Doha on visit on the 16th of November. is it possible for me to meet her. also can i get an idea about the prices? hope you can help me out
Cheers
Nihal
hey there's this new salon, a very cool one, just opened 2 weeks ago, it's fantastic, the owner as far as i know has lived 22 years in South Carolina. She is great, so basically u guys won't have a problem communicating with her, + she's very sweet, except it's very expensive, highly expensive yet worth it! i don't really know how much it'll cost doing (merch'e)..oops spelled it wrong!!
hi hi hi!!
Dear ladies,
a month ago, i posted a classified in QL for my wife who is a professional Jordanian hair dresser, she has more than 9 years of experience, knows almost everything.
Basically she wants to provide beauty services to meet new people and to have new friends and to practice her english language. as we are new in Qatar. about the prices and costs, you dont have to talk about it at all. if you dont like the work, dont pay. and if you like it, you can pay what ever it reasonably suits you.
the only small Issue is that she cant fluently communicate in english, so sometimes you have to communicate through me :)
if you are interested, please give her a call at 5906377.
To add another name to you long list of good hair stylists...has anyone heard of this place called Daniel Bejani? i think its somewhere near the mall or somthing.
so I had to cut my long hair in my vacation in Beijing. Now I have to keep it until next back China.
So far, I prepare a few bone to make my furure long hair fine
----------------------------------------------
share your life with me as we are different:)
Do you have a contact number for the hairdresser in Riviera Gardens
the perfect looks
hello... may i know does she do hair relaxing/straightening???rebounding??? how much does she cost for it? my hair length is until the middle of the back..
bi-bida bida strikes again!
you work for a beauty salon supplier. Do you do services too. Home service and stuff.
I hope you are pretty, else walang bibili sa inyo. bwahahaha.
Cgurduhin mo lang na maganda ka, kasi tinda mo byuti products.. dahil kung hindi, ididikit ko mukha mo sa pader.. hahahahaha.. gnayayhahahahaha.
Hey pretty girl,
i just PM for you coz i work in a beauty supply company and all the above mentioned salons are our clients...i observe business ethics
Just got a cut this week at the new Movenpick, opposite the Four Seasons,(coloring/cut/blow-dry) and I love the result! Paid 570 QR, which sounds very reasonable compared to the prices at the Four Seasons, so I'm glad I went there!
I don't know what it is with consistency in service with hairdressers here in Doha. I was so happy when I found Salim/Four Seasons. I had 2 great haircuts and color and 8 weeks ago I got the worse haircut (too short, when asked not to cut it short) and he got dye on my clothes. He laughed and said I would get use to the haircut. For this I paid 950QR. Two friends have gone and both have come out with hair shorter than requested and one came out with a bill for 1250QR for highlights/cut/blow-dry.
I have been in Doha for 4 years and have found inconsistency in service at Marie Claire, Diplomatic Club,Jaques Dessange and don't even get me started on Le Femme.
Hello again, i would just like to add that my wife is now working for herself. If any of you would like to contact her, please use my email address.... [email protected] And thank you Bumbley, whoever you are.Im puzzled as to how you know Sal? Has she cut your hair?
Thanks again.
My daughters and I have been very happy with Michelle at Falcon Clubooff Al Mirqab street near Doha Clinic, and Maria at the Doha Beauty Center opposite ToysRus (that is on the Cigale Hotel side).
We have only done haircuts, but we are pleased- QR 40-60. Both speak good English.I know Maria also does a sheikha's hair.
Don't tell everyone? You do know QL has 10,000 members don't you? Lol!
I will second Mr Paul that his wife is indeed a very good hairdresser. If you want colours she's second to none. The only negative thing I'd say is if you go to her don't tell everyone as they'll go and you'll all end up walking round looking the same.
Hello, its a long time since anyone spoke on this site but here goes. There is a health and beauty spa in Bahrain called Jaques Dessange as i think someone has mentioned already, there is a senior hair stylist there called Sally. She opened her own shop at the age of twenty (in England), and is possibly one of the best Hairdressers on the island.
She has cut the sheikah's hair and styled hair for one of the ruling families parties. If you want an exellent haircut and colour or if you just want a consultation, you can reach her at [email protected]
it is true about tony & guy...the staff walked out. not happy with pay, work conditions and living conditions. new staff will be here dec 1, but will be from lebanon.
next comes 4 seasons...prices start at 350 for foil highlights and 450 for coloring with hassin. he has the most experience with blonde (according to them)
lastly diplomatic club. the german woman is gone, much to everyones distress. she was amazing. i will be trying color with the manager this week. had a consult with him and felt good about it. has over 17 years of experience and worked/trained with the german woman.
i believe sheri is the girlfriend of a pilot at qatar airways...and i am not sure if she is around. nor do i know where she would get product for coloring. will check with my husband about her.
botom line....you get what you pay for here in doha. if you want to be a pretty color blonde...you are looking at 400 minimum.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that is scared of the bad hair dressers! Seriously, I have gone 4-5 months without a cut or color because I was so scared.
After much ado about where to go for my first haircut here after 8 months, I finally went to the hair dresser at the Four Seasons (I figured they'd have to be good) and was very happy with them. Again, expensive (sorry, don't have the prices here), but good.
In bahrain, they used to do health and Beauty, is it just a salon for hair here?
Went to Jaques Dessange yesterday and very impressed ....the lady is french and her name is Marie....Bit on the expensive side but well worth it.
Location: On Salwa Rd....just befor the overpass next to Nando's
No. 444 9194
Hah, the Toni and Guy walk-out explains a lot.
I was also told to go to Toni and Guy and wish I never had. :)
It took her 5 minutes to cut my hair, and a very long time to do a bit of colouring meanwhile complaining (a lot!) about her life.
And sitting in a chair with someone behind you holding scissors (a handfull of chemicals) and your hair telling you how much Doha sucks and how much she hates the place and her job is just not a good combination...
And I ended up paying 1.000 QR...
I'd never recommend the place to anyone.
novita you know a lot of places and their numbers.
i need a good hair consultant who can suggest the best style for me.if it means spending a little bit, no problem, i need to get a good cut.
ok dont laugh but where is haya commercial complex or elegance saloon.dont ask me how long i have been here, i am ashamed to say the number, but frankly i am not aware of the locations of these places.
Haya Commercial Complex, telp 4689211
Or you can try Elegance Saloon. I used to go there for my haircut ... and only cost me 50 QR :-)
ok thank you,i shall give her a call and see what she says.
Han19,
I certainly know that Sherri is cheaper than Toni and Guy, but I suppose it depends what you want done?
I think she mailny works from home, but I may be wrong
where is marie claire?i have heard it first over here.i need a good hair stylist, how much does she charge for a hair cut, say medium length hair, trimming, layering..
marie claire seems cheaper than tony.location, number??
this lady sherri, does she work from home or does she make home visits.any dea how much she charges.
and about tony and guy, it cud wel be true, bcos that is trend during ramadan, most of the salons are busy like dogs working till 3 or 4 in the morning, no one to put their foot down.
for the extra extra work the staff does, they get nothing in return, which is very sad and they are pressured to be very fast in their work bcos the local ladies donthave time to waste, nor the patience to get it done patiently.and all crowd the salons at the last moment, thats why if u are regular at salons, u will notice some basic pedicures take 30-35mins with nice massage, while some finish in 15 mins........hello i didnt even get into the mood of getting a pedicure in that 15 mins.
Girls,
I have no idea about Meche or stuff like that, but my mrs uses a woman who has just come over with her husband - and out of all the places she has been to apparantly she is the 'nuts'. Her name is Sherri (she is a Brit), she doesn't work in a salon but is a trained proffessional and is open for business so to speak. Her number is 5754423.
i did my last hair cut with Marie Claire, expensive but i am very happy with it. For hair cut, hair colour and high light cost me 400 QR.
Another friend doing hair cut and hair colour in Tony and Guy, cost her 700 QR.
Not sure of the validity of this info, so could all be a load of hogwash, but here goes .....
I had heard that the staff at Tony & Guy basically walked out. They were unhappy with the way they were being treated and the hours they had to work during Ramadan, that they were not forewarned about when taking the job.
They are due to re-open mid December.
Have been advised that "training" is going on at the moment.
Ladies I know recommend The Diplomatic Club. It's difficult to make an appointment, but once you get in .. you make your next appointment when you have finished getting your hair done (if you are happy :-)
Another place is Marie Claire ... but pretty expensive.
Meche in French means "lock/wisp of hair" therefore, Marie Claire probably took that as highlights rather than the type of paper used for the highlights. Did you describe the Meche paper to her? Maybe you can order it online and she can do it for you. I have had several bad experiences here and in the States. It's a major trust issue for me. I wanted to venture out and try a new stylist a few weeks ago but I ended up going to Marie Claire because shes the only one I trust. Expensive as hell but well worth it if you don't end up crying.
I heard that Toni & Guy was closed until December. No idea why though.
hi,
i have no idea what meche is, but i have heard from many of my lady friends that toni and guy in the mall are good for hair styling, but expensive.
i have been contemplating taking an appointment with them to take a consultation as to which hair style would suit me.
you need to fix an appointment with them beforehand.
btw what is meche? some hair gk for me.
all the best
