What's YOUR country famous for?

This map reveals that India is famous for making movies, South Africa is famous for ostriches, Libya is famous for heat and Spain is famous for cocaine use!

Qatar, the richest country in the world, is famous for GDP - according statistics gathered from across the internet from sources including the World Bank and Guinness World Records.

The map was created by DogHouse Diaries website and shows what each country leads the rest of the world in and the words picked are written across the country's geographical territory.

Agreed. highest GDP per capita belongs to Qatar while Biggest economy belongs to USA. However, now world talks about HDI (human development index) to rank countries other than economies.

We can't have a baby in just few days unless you are an gigantic super Eskimo in a comics.. Comparing past and present, Qatar has done much better than any other country.. population is growing like anything.. things are underway...of course a half haircut looks scarier than a head which is still waiting to a seat but progressively the half haircut is 50% ahead than the one who is waiting.

Qatar is nowhere to be found on lists of countries by average wage, highest household income (weighted for ppp) or any other measure of what people ACTUALLY EARN.

Try telling someone working here for 800QR that he's lucky to live in the world's "richest country". Means diddly squat to the 99% of people who aren't oil barons who get a cheque for a few million dollars each month (including the many nationals who are now struggling so much financially that the government is forced to build wedding halls for them because they are too poor to afford a marriage).

Strange, when I look up nominal GDP per capita, I find the data says:

World Bank 2012 - Luxembourg #1

CIA World Fact Book 2012 - Monaco #1

United Nations 2011 - Monaco #1

Come on dudes.. We normally don't consider GDP ( Nominal ) to define who the richest country of the year.. We use GDP Per capita I mean GDP (PPP) as using a PPP basis is arguably more useful when comparing generalized differences in living standards on the whole between nations because PPP takes into account the relative cost of living and the inflation rates of the countries, rather than using just exchange rates which may distort the real differences in income.

It is easy to jump into conclusions to think others are wrong. Anyway...nice try.
