Americans and Japs are smart enough to sent all their 4x4s to Gulf market (like GMC Yukon or Toyota Landcruiser) as no takers there!!! when will we learn??? IS IT A TRUE PERCEPTION.....???
yeah true but the off road capacities of SUV's cannot be ignored.Anyway saloon and suv's are not comparable to each other,as both are build on different platform.
Agreed, for sheer driving pleasure and speed nothing beats a car that sticks to the road, a saloon car. Not to mention better cornering and less chances of over turning as well.
However, a 4WD has better ride height which lets you see someone braking early way in ahead of your car, rather than having your vision blocked in a saloon car. Also in cases of not so minor accidents its always good to be safe up there instead of risk getting crushed in a small by a truck or an SUV.
On a much serious note, there's no better place to have the pleasure of driving SUV than the Gulf. One doesn't have to care about petrol consumption at all. Compare this to India, where I have to spend 700-800 Rupees (Qrs. 70 approx.) per day on Fuel in a non-SUV 1.8L engine vehicle!
Here my 4000CC Prado takes me for a week in Qrs. 130 full tank! :)
has recently fallen through the floor which is why GM are selling Hummer and both Ford and GM are concentrating now on small sedans.
This is a new development though brought on by the recession and inflation in gas prices. Until very recently, SUVs and pick up trucks were the mainstream of American automobile sales.
Just call me Tigasin. That's what I'm talking about
What u say about the Hummer1/2 Yukon Denali6.2lit and more recently the Landcruiser5.6lit (Which is not launch in GCC yet)are popular and status symbol in America
It could be a ploy to bring down the Arabs and people living in the Gulf. Get them addicted to SUV's, later on stop the supply and starve them until they're dead craving to drive a new SUV.

toyota launch first landcruiser in US during 1950's
There are Land Cruisers in the States, but not very many. More Toyota Sequoias, and lots of big American-made pickups and SUVs.
Embarrassing how much I enjoyed driving that rented Escalade this summer......oh.....Black Betty... how I miss her... :-D

They do have the Land Cruiser in the USA, plus someting called the Sequoia.
In some countries it is designated as the Amazon..

SUVS are not safe cars.

Its all cyclic.. Once the price of oil gos down, people will be back again..
Funnily enough, the sales of RV's have not dropped, even though they drink gas aplenty..
Are there Landcruisers in the States, I know we can't get them in Canada??
i love American Suvs they are strong not like Suzuki or Honda

yeah all these things were much talked during 1973 oil embargo crises...but it is true that manufacturers are changing their strategy..

what is the ratio of SUV's sale in US and GCC??
one should not believe in conspiracy theories.....
Lol rayyz, must be an anti-Arab conspiracy
it Seems true... tallg
If it is the case then why all the Big SUV's Manufacturers unveils their models of big size SUV's to US market first??
Well there are lots of 4x4s on the roads of america, so it's not a case of there being no takers.

Nope i never been to America//
Americans? Nope zhatash, there are millions of gas guzzlers on the road in the US.
They wouldn't be sending their gas guzzlers here if they could afford the price of gas.
wtf? Have you been to America?
