A fun filled evening (NOT)!!!!!

Hi All,

Just wanted to share our fantastic evening with you all, when DH was driving home from work he got a call from the hire car place, they said he needed to go see a man at Al Wakra police station, this man was claiming he had been in an accident with DH, after explaining he hadn't had any accident, the police still insisted he go along to sort it out.
We drove all the way to Al Wakra, nobody there knew anything about it, phoned the hire car place and they said "sorry, we should have said Al Khor".
After another hours driving we arrived at Al Khor, went into the police station where the man was waiting, he was shouting he needed QR300 in cash now to clear the bill for the damage to his car, after a minute one of the police men asked to see DH's RP, we then were told it had been a case of mistaken identity!!! The man they needed to speak to, who had the car before us, was an Italian!!!
Talk about a wild goose chase, anyone else had a lovely evening????

baedaebok sounds like you had a busy evening too, rain sounds wonderful at the moment instead of getting soaked through with humidity :)

Yes Novita, it is a good job I can laugh about it although at the time it was a different matter ;)

notfromhere, I expect I used words similar to yours on the evening but calm and chilled again now :)

Is this thread about how we spent our evening?

Well, here's my evening. I spent it visiting my brother and his "partner" in the hospital. She is going to give birth to their son at any time -- Aden will be his name. Is Aden a Muslim name? What does it mean?

After that, I walked home with my mom through the pouring Toronto rain. We were looking for Dr Seuss' Sleeping Book for dd. We've had 3cm of rain in the last few days.

Ditto what Novi said!

Brandy, you haven't been here very long. Trust me, you will have many more such incidents to come!

In our family, we just shrug it off and say "That is SOOO Qatar".

Of course, the shrugging off comes AFTER every blue word in the book, lol!

Hope you have a better weekend!

I am really sorry to hear that, generally the leasing company attends to all these things, and you will finally have to pay if there was an accident and it is your fault. The leasing company is being paid to clear all these kind of matters.

I had a car from Hertz over two years and was crashed 4 times I never once went to the police station all the paperwork was done by Hertz.

Next time you know to ask when the accident happened so you will save yourself worries and driving all over Doha.

I wonder what would you have said if you were in Saudi Arabia and they asked you to come from Riyadh to Jedah and then to Mecca... oh boy that would've been a hell ride lol.

Brandy consider it as a long drive, ain't nothing better than a long drive with the person u love :D. Thing's could've been worse ;).

After living here for two years, my driving skills are almost non existant just like my intellectual capacity. A couple of weeks ago, I backed my car into a pillar in the parking lot damaging the rear bumper. Here, you need a police report before you can get your car repaired so I went to Airport police station to file a report.

I waited for about 20 minutes (there was no line and the number machine wasn't working) until eventually I made it to a counter and explained what had happened to the woman behind the desk. She looked at my ID and license and then handed me a small blank piece of paper. I then had to go outside into the parking lot where there were a lot of other people with blank pieces of paper and eventually a policemen came out and looked at the cars and wrote something on the blank paper. He didn't write on mine though. When I told him what had happened and where, he told me to go back to my office and cal the police and wait for them to come and file a report.

I couldn't be bothered and instead went home. It was a great way to spend two hours. I highly recommend it.

Just call me Tigasin. That's what I'm talking about

indeed one terrible thing to happen ... Blame it on your rental car shop, the guy there is one [sorry] idiot. He heard the police talking on the phone, could not communicate with them, was scared and call you to go and see what is the problem. He did not ask them about the details and just sent you to sort out what? Another guy's problem?

Thank god that nothing serious was there ... You and your hubby are ok and doing fine ...

Have a nice day ...

the guy who had the accident had the car before we did, his first name was almost the same but wasn't until we reached al Khor that they realised, the car hire firm I think were at fault, they could have saved us this lovely evening if they bothered to find out when the accident happened and explained to the police we didn't even have the car at that time.

Thats crazy Brandylady, they had you driving all over Qatar...I shudder to think how they will find this Italian if there are tons of Italians who use the car hire company's service...their system needs a serious overhaul.

My evening, was in comparison, quite uneventful.
