well, there was once a bikini beach party by red bull on banana island but all trace of it was moved from the media.

They did a couple of threads on it here on QL (with photos) but it was completely moved and you might get banned if you post it

In this country, they want everything behind the curtains. Once it gets public, it becomes a "shame"

here's a link I found:

Hilarious!

I think you can almost guarantee that there will be heaps of similar flashmobs at Qatar 2022. South Africa was full of young girls in bikinis looking for a chance to shake it!

close your eyes, relax, and just imagine that this happened in Wakra beach:

Could you even tell who's who?

A friend at QTel told me that locals didn't like having the women in the crowd shown in the video. And some were embarrassed by the behavior of some of the young guys - apparently it showed them to be a bit, well, unruly, and gave a bad impression of Qatar.

What's the big fuzz from locals about this video being uploaded?

....anyway, where were we? Oh yes, the original post about a 'flashmob' in Landmark. Hardly a flashmob, looks very organized though. I like it. TFS.

Is saying that Qatar is built by rejects supposed to insult expats, or insult the Qatari government policies that got us our visas and the Qatari sponsors who employee us and the Qatari royals who keep bringing in big projects like FIFA and the LNG projects that only the 'rejected' expats have the skills and experience to handle?

By anonymous• 18 Dec 2012 12:13

WHAT???? Qatar is being built by Rejectees? Jeez !!!

By seasons• 18 Dec 2012 09:59

Lol! If Rejects were to build Qatar then this country would be no where on the map..

I don't get people Qatar bashing but please make no mistake our countries have not rejected us.... We choose to be here because of financial reasons and the sun....We also can get up and go when we like.....Also Qatar expects expats to be highly qualified professionals.....hardly rejects......

By Qatar__Uk• 18 Dec 2012 04:31
Qatar__Uk

Then why are you working in Qatar? And if not, why are many working in it?

Because your country has rejected you and Qatar was the country that welcomed you all!

I feel really mad when expats like you talk badly about the people of Qatar and Qatar itself.

By poachedeggs• 18 Dec 2012 04:27
poachedeggs

yes we can - we can survive and get by without you.

By Qatar__Uk• 18 Dec 2012 04:15
Qatar__Uk

poachedeggs, Sorry, but you can't also live without our wealth!

Our government want us to have higher job positions as any parents wanting their children to be the best!

Quite right! ;)

I would like to see Qatar expand and carry on with its growth without us - the ex-pats!

Dance and insult all you like - but could your Qatari men and women do what we are doing for you?

Get your young men to dig and build roads and work summer and winter. Get your women to work in shops and restaurants. Get YOU all to build your country WITHOUT US!

Get real. You can do nothing without us.

"No place for you foreigners ...." ...when did Qatar buy Christmas Island?...:)

Not a flashmob.

A flashmob is when no one expects something to happen. Look at everyone standing around waiting, and prepared to film etc.

Ridiculous.

By AngelinaBallerina• 17 Dec 2012 17:38

That technically wasn't a flash mob......Have to say it looked ridiculous!!!!Embarrassing!!!?

Its not about accepting expats or not!

Its Qatar National day! Its the culture and the traditional that make that day special!

I feel a shame about that nonsense advertisement by Q-tel!

I have heard that Q-tel itself was really shocked as they are the ones who only sponsored it but the idea wasn't by them.

By anonymous• 17 Dec 2012 12:18

"Looks like the country and its residents are more forward looking"

It will be Qatarized in a couple of years ;-)

No place for you foreigners in such "QTelic" activities

dont get so happy for cultural free dance, loosing color slowly

I agree with Azilana. A gold star for trying. I'd like to see more nationals - men and women - in future flahmobs. I felt a bit sorry for the Qatari boys running through the dance at the end because they were jealous of all the attention the ex-pats were getting.

By happygolucky• 17 Dec 2012 07:06

Quite refreshing indeed. Looks like the country and its residents are more forward looking, more in sync with the world, more adaptable than the expats (no guesses, we know who they are) for their blah blah whole day over here.
