Fitness clubs - poor!!!

Is that a normal thing not having – excuse me- a toilet paper in Fitness club? As well as soap and any cleaning stuff?

I recently enrolled into Al-Massa Fitness club. On my request for toilet paper, they offered me the last box of tissues, which they could hardly find in their storage. The same soap has been constantly diluted with water may be for a last at least 6-7 month. Only poor foam left over in the soap device. When I asked for the cleaning stuff to clean machine’s part after I used the machine, the receptionist was very surprised, she said: we can not make our customers to clean after themselves. I said: you don’t have to make them doing it, but you must give them this option.

They are very sensitive about seen the naked legs and hands.I respect it, that’s why I always change my clothes in the special changing room, which is inside of general changing room (that's funny - what for the general changing room then??). So why at the same time they don’t care about touching machine after somebody’s sweating legs, arms, and hands were just touching this machine. I respect your sensitivity about not to be seen half-naked. Please respect my sensitivity about not to touch machines after someone just touched them – provide me with the basic cleaning stuff! Not to mention, the soap and toilet paper. .. and all that – for QR 500 a month??

The owner of Al-Massa gym is very well known for being one of the youngest successful business-minds in Qatar, and thats exactly what he is into...BUSINESS and not health and sports! Because if you see his physique you will realize he probably hires someone to not only buy him toilet paper but also wipe for him!! The guy doesnt use the gym and never will! And thats why he never strolls in there and sais "hey this needs changing" or "if i was a member i would need to have this service" ..... all he cares about is that its bringing in money, and since many people here also only care about appearances then they want to go to the newest gym or the most popular one without really caring about wether its the best equipped or best facility/service. If its the only thing available then he knows people will end up coming, the money will keep on rolling and thats all that matters, the staff are basically slaved there and cant say a word! I know almost all the trainers in Qatar and they wouldnt even dare speak to the owener, nevermind discussing toilet paper!

Al-Massa, Q-tel, Toyota dealership, and many more, get used to these guys no matter how bad their service they know you'll come back to them you have nowhere else to go!

have u tried ramada's fitness centre.

i had sued it a few years back and had like it?dont know how it is right now, but do know they charge 5000qrs yearly for single membership.hope that figure has not changed.

they too have the works but whenever i wanted to use the jacuzzi, there were men in it, not my scene. i dont think they have a exlucive jacuzzi for either, its common.

my experience has taught me always to carry a pack of swipes and dry tissues along with a small bodywash tube whenever outside your house, you never know when you may require to use it.plus now with 2 tinytots you need to be prepared for any emergency.their carrybag usually has the works in it.

I think, Nic is right - it's lack of management skills AND neglecting of their duties. At my first visit (before i made the decision to enroll) nobody cared to take a tour with me around the Gym, to show the facilities. When i asked about it, they said: you can go and see...What a service! Just downstairs there is a big store with all home stuff. Just go downstairs, buy and bring the toilet paper and soap upstairs!

5 minutes, 10 rials! Halas!

My friend gave me advise always to carry the toilet paper, "just in case". I guess, I will also carry soap and cleaning stuff... what next? may be also to bring couple of machines with me? BTW, the selection of the machines is also very poor, but at least I knew about it in advance.

...ok, Dragon6, I will try Gold's Gym! thanks!!...

What hurricane describes is just a typical example of the poor services' standards often obtained in Doha.

Those in charge of the services either lack of management skills or neglect their duties.

Gold Gym is also poorly clean and poorly maintained.

The jacuzzi doesnt work for 3 months and nobody knows when or if it will ever work again...

When you arrive at the main door, you will see abandonned in the front garden, old equipment - the feeling you get immediately tells you the poor status in which the gym currently is.

Is it only my impression or nobody gives a damn in this part of the world?

Its a surprize to me why anyone would need to go number-two in the gym but apparently many people do feel like it in the middle of their workout, i go to Al-Massa landmark cause its alot closer to where i live and i dont have to fight for parking spaces with people who are there trying to get juice from Mandarin in Ramada.

Al-Massa Landmark is very small but has all the necessary machines and contraptions in it, i drink lots and lots of water while working out especially on my cardio days and i usually need to go take a leak once or twice but everytime i reach the toilets i decide to hold it in because EVERYTIME i go there (been a member for a year now) EVERY single day the toilets have been freshly used by someone who has just gone hardcore number#2 and there is water all over the toilet and there is no soap in the dispenser so you know the person didnt use any and he's back out there using the gym equipment!!

Why not go before or after the gym? What is it about working out that urgently causes the need to go number#2 ???

I have been member of Al-Massa for the last 5 months and I found their service is very good. Their bathroom are getting clean on the clock. I think Al-Massa ladies section is just being abused by women there. And I also to be honest i see a lot of woman there, who i do not think they are there to workout. I just wonder why they come to the gym.

BUT the most thing i Love about ALMASSA, is that they have freaking tvs installed in the cardio machines. It makes cardio way more fun.
