Firing has been reported from the Mumbai suburb, Andheri West, on Thursday. The 65-year-old man, Hareesh Marodiya, who opened fire is mentally unstable, police said.

Marodiya abducted a 16-year-old girl and then started firing. The girl has been killed, police said.

According to some reports, there was a dispute between the shooter and the girl’s father, Ketan Mehta, over a society issue.

More details are awaited.

rishi, even i feel so..i don't want ne INDIAN QLers to post such news that could bring shame to our nation..I didn't put forward my intention coz it may lead to un-necessary CAT FIGHT which i don't want..

Neways, the incident that happened in mumbai yesterday is really a tragic one..I pay my heartiest condolence to the deceased girl's parents (though she was the adopted child of them)..

i was particularly shocked seeing that both are happening in and around mumbai....it's a place that's very dear to me and i was just pained....plus the fact that both incidents involved children....innocent children who had nothing to do with the issues! :'(
