fire in my villa!

Another fire today in doha. this one was in our villa and the a/c wiring gave up! although the a/c was switched on about 2 hours before the fire, luckily none of the clothes/wood caught fire else would have been catastrophic! Alhamdullah we are all safe.

Big surprise that despite the fire alarm going off (that too after the whole room was full of smoke) no fire brigade or fire fighter arrived at the scene..ever! Not sure what's their mandate.. anyone care to comment?

fire alarm is to warn you and take appropiate action/safety measures.

Thanks God Fire alarm worked and you got fire extinguisher available. Kudos to the developer of your property.

roflll sorry dont mean to be MEAN...but this guy just made me chuckle when i read his post. "Big surprise that despite the fire alarm going off (that too after the whole room was full of smoke) no fire brigade or fire fighter arrived at the scene..ever!"

I'm imagining him standing there looking at his house catch fire and waiting for the FF to come along any moment now.

I think everyone else has told you why i find that funny dont want to repeat, just that i actually did chuckle in my seat.

Thank god you are safe.

so you can get out of the house and call 999. The fire department does not come automatically.

the point to a fire alarm is for you to respond first !!!

the alarm is not connected to the world. But yeah, neighbors should have heard it and checked on you, but ya know, this is Qatar even in the Malls people go blank and ignore what to do...............

glad your ok

of course i used the extinguisher but i was lucky to have a working extinguisher available! my question is that whats the point of a fire alarm if no one responds? what if i wasn't home? or sleeping?

the idea is to warn everyone to be mindful of these unfortunate events occurring frequently in doha..

Blank stare :/

exactly.....gotta call 999 to get them...it is not like everyone's home is wired into their central phone system switchboard to detect fires or other emergencies....

common sense to have fire ext. in your home or car atleast that is what is taught in my home country.

but, glad you are ok.
