Fine the Weatherman!
Doesn't apply here because its always sunny or windy, but in Holland councillors are saying that "bad" forecasts are spoiling the local seaside trade.
Joep Thonissen, head of Recron, the Dutch tourist attraction association, said "incorrect" forecasts were causing "considerable damage" to visitor attractions.
He said, "Last week it was really good weather over most of the country but the weather forecasts were full of heavy rain and thunderstorms, so people stayed home."
Pieter van Cutsem, who runs a small hotel in Hoek van Holland, agrees that forecasters should be "punished" for incorrect predictions, saying: "Despite having more forecasting tools than ever before they often get it wrong.
"Recent weather reporting has been completely inaccurate and it is hitting local businesses dearly because people are cancelling bookings. I agree they should be fined on the grounds of disseminating incorrerct information."

same complaint in belgium and northern france's atlantic coast: weathermen forecasted grim weather this summer... 2 months ago!
it ruined all coastal tourism.
however, the forecast was not a lie. despite some sunny days, overall, the weather was in fact grim.
storms of hails even hit those region in late june, and sports fan clearly remember wimbeldon rain disrupture, and tour de france's skies.
Just shoot 'em ...
Weatherman is highly stressed. Too much dependency on climatic conditions, should use hi-tech solutions, every hour fresh/updated forecast.
Who goes on holiday to Holland for the beaches?!
That's why in my place they used to say on radio... today it may or may not rain !!
somehow he has the right to say so, coz it is really hard to expect something and get something else, not only in weather but in everything (stock market especially)
thankgod we are staying in qatarliving. always good weather here.
