DOHA: On the eve of Ramadan, a Filipino worker was caught by authorities driving while under the influence of liquor on his way to Al Khor area early Friday morning.

The incident prompted a Filipino community group, Filipino Foundation Workers Worldwide (FFWW), to call on their countrymen to refrain from drinking alcoholic liquor as a way of paying respect to the observance of the Ramadan.

According to reports received by Noli Perez, FFWW president, the Filipino worker was driving his way towards Al Khor when he was flagged down by authorities and was immediately brought to jail after he was obviously smelled drinking alcoholic liqour.

Perez said there have been many similar cases of Filipinos caught drinking liquor while driving in the past years during the Ramadan but it is only now that their group has issued the warning if only to prevent repetition of such cases this year.

It was also Perez’s group which warned Filipino women last month to wear decent dresses when going to the public after they received a report from the police about two Filipinas were separately reprimanded for wearing skimpy shorts and alter tops at the shopping mall and near an accommodation.

...Let he who is without (any) sin or made a mistake (for that matter) cast the first stone...

Bottomline he made a mistake of DUI of liqour & has been punished (he may be on bail, but still punished -lightly as it seemed), LESSON is learned & guess that this wont happen again, bec. drunk driving is never allowed in any state or country as it causes too much harm.

LESSON: DRIVE SAFELY AND RESPONSIBLY....

No need for bashing and generalizing one race...

I just seined and read all the comments of others and really caught my attention this 1 person that how dare he degraded us "all Filipinos it hurts for my side and sure you all did, really very insulting. I want to answer all her/his comments but I tell to myself he is only a waste of time and people like him an racism, must not come to a country like this, that dealing to all different nationalities. At least we Filipinos are known for being easily to get in. And the worst how dare he/she insults us Filipina woman.

I come back to the topic, all my kababayan I know me also have temptation that I can't resist but just be careful doing something that we all know that is very illegal here, and like others said” di lang naman ikaw o ako ang nadadamay lahat tayu.Ayuko I judge kung sino man ang involve sa drunk driving na yan but I'm happy n hindi sya naka harm at naka aksidente sa pangyayari.

JUST TAKE CARE GUYS KASI DI NAMAN NATIN HAWAK ANG ISIP NG ISAT ISA. AT PARA MATIGIL NA DIN ANG MGA TAO NA SUMISIRA SA PAGKA PILIPINO NATIN.

We should not judge a book by its cover, so as a person also, give him a chance, i dont know this person, but, give him a chance, we should be thankful that at least someone had been caught in place of you...i want to see him and help him, he did mistake but a mistake make him learn and correct the mistake he did. I wanted to talk to him and if i see him and heard his story, maybe i will help him out, this is depends on his situation, how much alchohol he had in his blood,,

Agreed with Virgo, now anyone think of helping him...he might be in the prosecution jail, in Dafna near Salam...He will be tested for other substance and ask questions, there is a public lawyer their, if someone could go there and bail him for maybe 500 riyals only, he can go home and might think of what he have done,,,in couple of months, but during that,he should report there everyday i think and he will be called back to court and be tried...

i think shaanz and all the people like him was busted by a filipina, he cannot accept beyond reasonable doubt despite the fact that there are filipina having relationship with other nationalities he himself cannot got one, hence the insecurities.or perhaps being dumped by a filipina whom after all just brokeaway with him. so he has more reason to hate our kabayan na pinay. kaya walang preno kung maka aglahi ng kababaihan natin. siguro si marky ganun din, baka sya naman ay ipinag palit sa ibang lahi, kaya nilalahat na ang mga pilipina.

"Mark! Mark!"

doo'y nakasulat....

"Mag-ingat sa ASONG NGONGO"

Pasintabi po lamang ngunit naalala ko ito sa comment ni Apple tungkol sa pagkahol... :)

"50% prostitutes, 40% Bacla and 10% again prostitutes !"

where are the Filipino men in shaanz's statistics?

there you have it marky and marioc29!

yes, perhaps, there are not too many filipino men who can confirm their manhood in shaanz's statistics...because perhaps shaanz had the impression that no filipino man is man enough to stand up and fight for their own women!

By virgo825• 23 Aug 2009 19:01
virgo825

because there are the likes of marioc29 or marky who have the nerve to agree with the likes of shaanz in the public forum...so instead of taking care of the image of the Filipinas, the more that they give reason to shaanz and the others to look down on us...perhaps they are thinking, if Filipino men look down on the Filipinas, then the more that they have the right to be bigots and prejudiced because we are not of their own!

Marky, aka Marioc29...i don't need to attend the mass to know what's happening around me. I don't even need a priest's sermon to know what is right from wrong, so don't lecture me and feeling self-righteous by going to mass regularly.

Well, the guy is in Jail...he deserves it. Period. No sympathy or whatsoever. Whether he's a Filipino or not, the issue is Drunk Driving, and it should be Death penalty when caught. Why? Coz the stupidity of a drunk driver will give a death penalty to those unfortunate people who happen to be on the wrong side of the road with him. If you're responsible enough, you know that it's wrong to drink and drive. No excuses!!!!

It's not because things are difficult that we don't dare, it's because we don't dare that makes things difficult!

You're one and the same person, right? Because your response pertains to mine and coelacanth's response to marioc29. Whether the same or not, here's one for you, since you and marioc29 uses the "P" word for your Pinay kabayans:

"dO YOU THINK all of Pinay are the same...of course they are not..but dont blame me if you belong to these genre.'

you are categorizing me according to the "genre" that you are defining in your post? which "genre" are you categorizing me into?

my mother and my departed loved ones whom I have served while living right down to their last breath might turn from their graves to haunt you!

if you read clearly and understand well my post pertaining to my message to those of our kabayans who may have been doing things that give the negative impression, perhaps you would have understood that I am trying to encourage them to get out of the rut they are in and stand up with their remaining dignity.

i have reached this age toiling for my family and no matter how hard and difficult life had been to me, selling my flesh or accepting favors from any man in general have never been my cup of tea..it has never even entered my thoughts during the trying moments for my family when I stood alone to support them. so how dare you categorize me as such.

you know, right now, i am shaking with anger because of your self-righteousness and judgmental character. BUt I could only lift you up to God. He will be the one to judge you accordingly for what you are doing to me and to all the other Filipinas that you are generalizing/categorizing.

I don't know from which era you came. Perhaps colonial mentality reeks deep in you that just to agree with other nationalities, you agree to the point of degrading your kabayan. How self righteous you are! You really have to work hard and provide and be good to your family and daughters. You don't know yet how they will turn out in the future. I just hope that karma doesn't get you and give you a bitter pill to swallow.

Bad things happened like this not need to be commented by "idiot" but serve this as a lesson and bear in your mind not to do the same thing coz not all the time you're lucky party goer!

the idea behind opening this thread should discuss the unacceptable behavior of driving while being drunk. Of course it would be a silly thing to die having an accident and because of what? Being drunk?

What I'm not getting here what some did and turn this thread into something else as a Filipino bashing thread. Get a life people, it happens all around the world and all do that.

It's just the bad luck of this guy that he got caught, there are plenty endangering lives driving drunk on the road ... No need to mention nationalities, but I'm sure 100% that I witnessed those by my eyes on the roads.

perhaps, the people who belittle filipinos in general base their opinions on the "filipino crowd" they presently mingle with. and sad to say, a small percentage of our kabayan are really not worth emulating.

BUT that small percentage do not represent the majority of filipinos here in qatar.

filipinos here in qatar work as managers, supervisors, technical and clerical staff, doctors, nurses, bus / taxi drivers, cashiers, sales clerks, janitors, tea boys, nannies, housemaids, ... the monthly benefit packages range from approx. 100k qar to 1.5k qar.

all leaving home to work for better pay... for the family and its extensions. and most are decent, hardworking, religious, respectable...

to the people who see us filipinos generally as prostitutes, housemaids and western wannabees... think again... you might be surprised on what we really are and what we can do!!!

Together, we can make the world, a better place or worse than ever !!!

I find some people's comment are way out of proportion. *sigh*

Let's stick to the topic, who cares if who's driving ferrari or camel...its ALL about driving under influence of liquor.

Though I thank God the poor guy is behind the bar before he could indanger or might lost anyone's life. He will be banned from entering Qatar all his life but not in other GCC. I hope he learned a lesson and will refrain from committing the same mistakes anywhere. I wish him good luck at the other side of the world.

how could u? are U degrading your filipina kabayans? i tell u what, it seems you are bitter,.What do u think the Filipinas are doing in Cube? They are working! what about the Filipinas going out with the other nationalities...YOU ARE JUDGING THEM AS PROSTITUTES? JUST BY THAT? HOW DARE YOU! YOU ARE A VERY JUDGEMENTAL PERSON.

SOME OF THEM ARE MARRIED TO FOREIGNERS SOME ARE REAL LOVERS SOME ARE FRIENDS.

DON'T U EVEN THINK THAT THESE FILIPINAS IN JAIL/DEPORTATION ARE SOMETIMES VICTIMS TOO? BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT DEFEND THEMSELVES, AND THEIR SITUATION ARE BECOMING WORST BECAUSE OF KABAYANS LIKE YOU.

CAN U GIVE ME THE DAY WHEN OUR PRIEST, FROM HIS HOMILY ADDRESSED TO THE FILIPINAS ATTENDING THE MASS TO STOP PROSTITUTION.

A PRIEST WILL NEVER POINT HIS FINGER TO ANYONE AND SAY THAT. HE IS TALKING TO THE GENERAL PARISHIONER TO REFRAIN FROM WRONGDOINGS. EVERYBODY ARE WELCOME TO GO TO CHURCH MUCH ESPECIALLY THE SINNERS BECAUSE FROM THERE THEY CAN GET THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THEIR WRONGDOINGS. AND IF YOU ARE REALLY A CHURCHGOER LISTEN TO THE WORD THROUGH YOUR HEART, NOT THROUGH YOUR SINFULL MIND AND SINFULL EYES.

NOW YOU ARE SAYING TELL U WHY? OK, WHY ARE YOU SAYING THESE THINGS? WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO POINT OUT?

the good thing is that there are filipinos who are opposite of that behaviour and must strive hard so that they prevail over that rotten apple. i admire the advocasy of some notable kababayan here in QL. atleast maka tabla manlang tayo sa mga balasubas na yan na sumisira sa imahe ng mga pinoy dito sa qatar.

was really bad. This road is really dangerous and the accidents are deadly, thank god that he made it all the way to Al Khour without having a big problem on the road.

I still remember last year that one driver was jailed and maybe deported because he had an accident on one traffic light under the alcohol influence. He was fined 10,000 Q.R for driving while being drunk and he was the first case to face the judge after the new implementation of the traffic law.

I hope that some would just understand this matter and look at it in general. Let me be honest and say, I did not get why did this thread turned to be another Filipino bashing thread again?

It's already joining the huge list of racist threads successfully.

i am not patronising our kabayans who may have given other nationalities that kind of impression...but i am not judging them either...

i just pray that they will have the strength to stand up independent of men who lure them and bait them with kind words and big favors...

to my fellow filipinas, just keep the faith...stand up and move on with dignity...

you can make it through...kaya mo yan!

and to the poor kabayan who got apprehended because of drunk driving, may this become a lesson for you to learn - you can't put your family's life on the line by acting irresponsibly...i pray that you may look back at this moment in your life as the catalyst that will reform you and make you change your ways.

By virgo825• 22 Aug 2009 15:01

don't you have a mother, sister, grandmother, aunt? how could you look down to your kabayans and call them prostitutes? do you know why there are filipinas who end up with foreigners? because there are not too many filipino men who can take good care of filipinas in the level of maturity, responsibility and emotional security that they require. filipinas here in qatar have gotten here because of work. we are not here as merely tourists. many filipinas are driven away from the home country because they are breadwinners. if all filipino husbands know how to take good care of their family, there won't be filipina wives toiling abroad. if these men know how to take good care of their wife, or daughter, or sister, there won't be some filipinas who would do anything just to send money back home - kapit sa patalim, 'ika nga.

of all people, you are generalizing your fellow kabayans? shame on you!

marioc...do you think all filipinas going to cube or other places are prostitutes? How could you believe a religious leader judging people that way (if what you mentioned in the homily is true)? Whatever their reason behind them going with other nationalities is none of our business, and it's not proper for a religious leader to judge filipinas that way(if the homily happens to be true).

If you got dumped by a filipina, don't assume that the reason was what you mentioned. Watch what you say as other nationalities might think that way.

what is idiot thing for me is.... why always Filipinos were being caught by these autority? maybe Filipinos are born "honest" and doesn't know how to lie unlike others... who keeps pretending that they are sacred, blah.. blah.. blah.. but they aren't!
