i think the embassy has setup something for their families to receive donations. i remember seeing the letter somewhere. we can all donate and do our part.

at the risk of sounding insensitive, this should be a lesson learned for us ofw's. we have to make sure that we register properly so our families get proper benefits whenever (god forbid) something like this happens. there are a lot of kabayans out there who choose to find ways to work around the system, come on tourist and business visas and then complain about the government not doing anything to help them. i'm so sorry to sound mean but that's the way it is. the government is gracious enough to offer to pay for free repratriation even if they did not register with the owwa. it is unfair for registered ofw's who have gone through the trouble and headache of going through the government bureaucracy and waste precious time at the poea just to ensure that their families get proper compensation when a tragedy occurs. however inconvenient, all those fees (even if some of it probably do get stolen by corrupt officials) and paperwork exist for a reason. let's not circumvent the system.

i hope you don't take this the wrong way. i pray they do get all the help they need.

our own kababayan who encourage such circumventing the procedures.

Anyway, that's for another day. Now we honor these three who did act to reverse the tarnish image made by others. Filipinas are always honorable.

Martyrdom for them. True heros. The Philippines and Qatar should construct some sort of monument acknowledging their courage. RIP

Yes, I hope they would do that. Since it was also pointed out here in local news that Qatar Government will be giving financial assistance to those who have been victims of this incident.

What I mentioned above was the official declaration from Philippines Embassy (OWWA) Overseas Workers Welfare Assistance officials. And the Families back home where worried on how they can lay their bodies to rest, considering that they will incur financial expenses. I was truly saddened by the declaration of our Government's official, taking to note that these workers who died brought honor to Filipino Workers throughout the World... withersoever disperse.

Just hope and pray that the Families of these 3 Honorable Teachers will be receiving assistance from people who cares and admired them.

I am sure that if the Philipines Embassy coordinates with the local authorities, they will be able to get compensation of some sort to help the families.

to their Brave Hearts! Indeed they deserve the World's admiration for inspiring others to do the same to their Fellowmen. Truly Heroic!!!

I have seen in the news that their Families back home are experiencing financial problems to laid them to rest peacefully. OWWA had confirmed that they can only give the support for the repatriation of their bodies to the Philippines, since they came to Qatar to look for job thru tourist visa. And with that, the Philippines Government (OWWA) will not give the support they use to give for registered OFWs. And truly, its a pity for the Families of these 3 Heroic Teachers.

To the OP... rjc official... do you think its possible for us to raise amounts to be send to their Families to help them address their financial concerns in laying the bodies of Maribel, Margie and Julie Ann to rest? If you can initiate, please let me know.

At least for us to truly give these 3 Heroic Souls an ultimate rest in peace.
