Fact and belief.....

This is a real incident that happened during our college days.Just remembered it now.Thought I'll share it...
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------

A lecturer stood in front of our class and in the midst of explaining something, the authenticity of the theory he was putting forth was questioned by some of the students.

The lecturer calmly asked one of them,"Son,can you tell me what's the difference between a fact and a belief?Or else,I'll put the question to the whole class....Can anyone tell me the answer?"

Answers poured in from all sides. But the lecturer was not happy with any of them. After about five minutes of cacophony,he bid everybody silence and told them,

"Fact is Mother....and Belief is Father"

The entire class went silent."Think about it.....and think well about it.You'll see what I said is true" So saying he left the class.

Come to think of it,it's true isn't it? :-D LOL!

Saggi : A quote for you...

"Beliefs are dangerous. Beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning. A non-functioning mind is clinically dead. Believe in nothing..."

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."- Buddha.

Mother could be Belief as well.. You never know that your mother is your actual mother or not!!! I heard so many cases that babies were mixed up in the hospital at birth.

Saggi: If you see that way, everything is relative ...nothing is absolute. May I suggest some rest n sleep to better your present confused state of mind? :-p

That there must be a relationship between fact and belief, where if you believe in something for you it becomes a fact while a fact makes you believe in something

dunno about the divorce procedures.....but isn't it true?we have a blood relation with our mother....but the fact that a certain person is our father is but a mere belief, non?even the DNA test report is a belief....a belief that the doc ain't telling lies...or that there's no mistake in the lab report....or whatever.but the mother.....no one can deny that.coz we are made within her!
