experiences with Air Miles

What are your experiences with Air Miles? This is the 'reward' scheme with the blue symbol, not related to Qatar Airways or any other airline, that is given out by HSBC on their credit cards.

I tried to book a so-called "reward" ticket of a flight by miles + cash. They were asking 30,000 miles + cash. When they called the 'miles + cash' price they quoted was precisely 110 riyals less than the internet price for that very flight. And it gets better: if you take one of their tickets you cannot earn Qmiles or Skywards miles on the flight, which unlike these blue Air Miles, are actually worth something.

Now I am trying to book a flight to Dubai using only Airmiles but there is no reply to the request, even after making it twice in the past week. The call center number will not connect me to anyone, there is no answer to requests for contact on the website.

All in all I find the whole thing quite insulting. What an absolutely useless waste of time and space. Has anyone ever successfully gotten anything out of this totally rubbish programme? Shame on HSBC for giving these out. I think I'd rather they just put a riyal or two in a charity box from time to time, rather than insulting me with this!

I have used Airmiles twice to get a total of QR 500 worth of coupons for HomesRus. But I agree with you, it took 8 years of collecting to get those coupons.Hardly seems worth it.Whereas with Qmiles I have had a free Doha/Manchester return ticket after paying taxes, saving nearly QR 3000.

May your dreams take you travelling all through your life.

I haven't used Airmiles, so I can't comment.

I have used QMiles and did manage to redeem a ticket, only had to pay for the airport taxes.
