Remittances from expatriates in Qatar to their home countries during the past year were to the tune of QR25.4bn, an increase of 33% over 2008, a local Arabic daily said quoting a report released by the Qatar Central Bank.

The report said that in spite of the impact of the global financial crisis and a slump in job opportunities, the past year was perhaps the most fruitful year for expatriates in Qatar in terms of financial gains. Remittances by expatriates, most of them Asians and Arabs, have increased steadily from QR10.9bn in 2005 to QR14.2bn in 2006, QR16.2bn in 2007, QR19.03bn in 2008 and to QR25.3bn in 2009. The total amount of remittances during the past five years add up to QR85.3bn.

Main reason for this is most of the asian expatriate's families are staying in their home countries compared to other nationalities (Europe,US etc) and they has to look up their families in their countries. If Qatar govt reduce formatilities to get family visa they will bring family here will spend their income here only.
