The Americans have an over romantic view of Ireland. It's official. (I just watched the 'Movie' that confirms it.)

BARFFF

Will be with all you lovely people in August, but the tug is starting already.

I'm Welsh and am just getting the first rush of nostalgia.
Just wondering if anyone has any 'Leaving Home' stories to share? Euwk.. it's going to be a pull! I'm sure it wasn't this hard last time..

Would welcome some Last Minute Nerve stories...

I love the Tube too, but we haven't had snow in yonks, Supernurse.. I'll miss pickled red cabbage(!)and Welsh Cakes... and weekends in Aberystwyth and waves.

Won't miss struggling to afford the petrol to get there though. Or HMR Inspections and the poxy British school system. Or Council tax and speeding fines..grrr

You're dead right, look'ew. Thanks:)

Think I was just emotional as I managed to rent out my house. My house is a pain in the rear.. but it's amazing how much you get fond of things when you don't have them anymore:)

I'm excited again this morning though..

Thanks again!

Shumai..

Leaving friends and family is not easy "lookyou isit"..:)

The first time I "left home" was to go to London at 17. It was a major shock. After two months, i was in a hell hole of a beddit and broke. I called my mother and literally cried on the phone. She told me to come home. I stuck it out, found strength and things worked out.

Coming here will be difficult, but you already have the QL community and life here is not too bad.. So look forward to the challenge.

Morning FranElizabeth

I didn't have time to get last minute nerves as the timescale between deciding to emigrate and actually doing it was only a couple of months, during which time we got engaged, organised a full white wedding and got married, plus sold our flat and bought a new house.

So keep yourself busy and you wont have time to think about it. We only get pangs of homesickness when we go back on holiday, but they soon pass once you're back in Qatar.
