15 years for nicking 100 dollars......Plus, the dollar is worthless now anyway, so who would really care.
He shoulda just kept quiet and spent it on a coffee and a bun, that would have taken all the money anyway at places like costalot coffee or fivebucks :D
I don't know what is worst, being broke for ever, because some jackass stole all your investment and monies, or go to jail for four years and still got some money stash some where that you stole from others, collecting interest in someone else's name and account, until you get out.

He sees an opportunity, the hundered dollars will last him a little while, but 15 years in prison... He has free room and food, access to a library to better his education, they can even do bachelors in prison now. When released he is elegible for state funding (basicly pay for an apartment)while on probation, they will find him a job. He will have a chance to start from scratch and avoid the hole he ended up in in the first place.

quite possible that it was the AIG guys first arrest, while the other guy might have several on his record, hence a longer sentence.
Because justice is not blind....
In one case the perp is a homeless poor black man and in the other the perp is probably a rich white guy....
