was a great one, in terms of show & music's quality, isn't it? Good job Moscow! IMHO

True, they say even the voting was fair...this year...hmmm..but it has to be mentioned that Alexander Rybak was born in Belarus. For the first time since 2000, the winning country was leading throughout the whole voting. Behind Norway, Turkey got the second highest amount of top marks despite finishing fourth.

Anyway, great performances this year..of course I am upset cause "my" Elena was not even in first 10..heard some strange rumors..but, this is life! It's not like we plan;-)

Alexander Rybak, takes the next year's song contest to Norway with his "fairy tale" love performance. There were many possible candidates for the first place, and even more genuinely good songs in the final. The voting seems to have been less political than other years, and was actually quite exiting.

But in the end with 387points, Norway reached gold. So let's get prepared for Oslo 2010!

Here's the top five ;

1. Norway (387 points)

2. Iceland (218 points)

3. Azerbaijan (207 points)

4. Turkey (177 points)

5. United Kingdom (173 points)

You have a great Eurovision 2009 team: the Singer Jade Ewen and the composer-wellknown- Andrew L. Webber. Jade is quite a presence, a great voice! IMHO

For sure they will improve the monotony of the song with some supporting vocals and so she will pop-up!!!

And related to voting subject (politically biased..) found a resume on telegraph.co.uk/31 Jan.2009:

-------------------------

Britain has a dismal track record in the Eurovision Song Contest in recent years and has not won the competition since 1997 when Katrina and the Waves won with "Love Shine a Light".

Widespread block voting between Eastern European countries has increasingly dominated the competition, with Russia voted as last year's winner.

Russia's entry, "Believe" sung by Dima Bilan, who performed during last night's show, received a maximum of 12 points last year from nearby countries - Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Armenia.

The success of Serbia in 2007 was also largely thanks to generous scoring for its neighbours, including Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Macedonia. Lordi, a heavy metal band dressed as monsters, from Finland, won in 2006 after receiving the maximum score of 12 points from Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Estonia.

Last year's UK entrant, Andy Abraham, came joint last after scoring "nul points" for his song "Even If "at the final in Belgrade. In 2007, Scooch finished second last with "Flying the Flag (for You)" and in 2003 the band Jemini failed to score a single point for their song, "Cry Baby".

This year, however, the voting system has been changed for the final in Moscow. Each country's votes will be decided by a combination of televoting and the votes of a national jury comprised of music industry experts.---

goodlookin,

that the "beauty" of this tacky contest, we could joke around with each other, in the spirit of the movie "L'auberge espagnole".

trio,

you are always welcome, even to join us in the EU :)

The public voting was the final straw for a struggling competition which was made even more ridiculous with the addition of a semi final.

The BBC & Andrew Lloyd Webber are having one final attempt this year at making it more credible (in england). Unfortunately they have got rid of the only reason for watching it, Terry Wogan’s drunken commentary!!! Nothing like making fun of the rest of Europe with old Tel!!!!

I don't care where the UK end up, as long as we beat dem Irish i'll be happy.

lusitano , thx for 12 points:p.for the channel i do not have any idea yet but will inform before the date on QL.

Goodlookin,

No one takes it serious in any of the "old players" countries, when they were 15 to 20 participants! However it is still very entertaining for its tackiness and people love to hate it!
