Eid.....1 shiny star in a brutesquely dark night
Wonder if Eid is the only day we really celebrate down in this burg. With the soaring prices of commodities and everything. Ramadan and Eid would leave a real dent on our pockets. Living in qatar, is pretty much impracticable for families who work on fixed income. A raise in income to accompany inflation is inevitable. Then again the trend is a very slow one. Families are saying SEE YA to this country which they have been in for over a decade (in many cases 2 decades and longer!). Well anyway. Whats gotta be, gotta be. I might add ramadan in USA would not be as frigid as over here. People earn better and spend proportionately. Over here to make ends meet, gotta send family members packing or/and weasel and thrift to survive.
Increasing Rent/prices of commodities -> eventual increase in income
increase of income +price rises-> 2riyal candy becomes 5riyals
End of this decade->newspapers may cost Qrs10
every riyal will mean less and less in terms of its worth
eventually falling into the inevitable phenominon of YENification(china) or LYRAfication (Turkey).
I am not a resident or something(exresident). I am a self proclaimed part time economist. All QL'ers are welcome to debate the issue further
I am not really whinging. Just saying that if there is no mechanism for price control. These might be a serious imbalance in economy. As rosy as it may look the shakers and makers of economy gotta read the 'economics manual' or something.
Welcome to Qatar. Qatar where for every person that leaves Qatar two come to Qatar just to realise that all that glitters is not gold.
Guess its time to bid farewell
thats the hard fact. nothing that can be done about it over here.
