Ecstasy helps us deal with drunks, say cops

flanostu
By flanostu

If it was not for the prevalence of ecstasy in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, understaffed police say they would struggle to cope with the drunken violence.

Last Saturday night only 15 officers were rostered on to deal with up to 60,000 people in the entertainment precinct - one officer for every 4000 people.

"We're at the point where we're saying thank God 80 per cent of them are using an illegal drug rather than alcohol, even though in 10 years they'll be suffering manic depressive disorders," the officer said.

"But we just couldn't deal with that many people affected by alcohol."

"It is embarrassing. We've sworn an oath to do certain things and we're not being given the resources to achieve that," the officer said.

Alcohol kills more people each year than drugs and legalising them would also make it more affordable.

You are right that is true, for example the guy I mentioned to you in some of previous comments is going on work with fear, normaly. He has not his family yet, but he has mother brothers etc. And they are worried about him he survived so many bad things in his life. Couple times he got some reward from City or Municipality like best oficer and that is it, maybe you can find some article in Daily news. Unfortunately, about bad guys you have stories and stories and sometimes media are making picture like they are heroes and victims.

By nadt• 10 Aug 2008 00:00
nadt

Yep Vukpop, the problem is that you most hear in the media about police corruption, not a lot about the decent ones who are struggling day to day, its must be hard having to deal with criminals and violence everyday. I remember his wife saying, each day he goes to work, shes not sure hes going to survive the day, and their pay is crap....Its not worth it..

As far as I know from some cases, some policemen have small network of informers on street, who are usualy small drug dealers and through that network they are controling "situatiation" on street. Everything legaly:)

One of my friends, also cop, cought one drug dealer on street, he was watching and following him for some time. And when he arrested him with evidence his bosses told him "let him go, it's our guy, working undercover". I suppose all this things happens everywhere around the Globe and I can understand honest guys why are depressed.

Vukpop,of course theres corruption everywhere. Where do you think the cops get all the ecstacy from?

Seriously though, my friend is a cop in Melbourne, and what they have to deal with day in and day out, with street and police violence, its a wonder they need something to keep them going, not to mention how depressed they get with dealing with all this violence, its a tough job..

My ex-husband and I used to do security work at night clubs back home in South Africa. Both of us prefered "Rave" nights at a friends club than, "Booze Pigout" nights that they had at our regular club.

People on E are a lot more chilled and we had no problems with them. They were always calm and easy to handle.

Those that drink till they 'drop'... instead, don't drop, they cause fights, and will always insist they are sober enough to drive.... You have no idea how many times we had to throw cold water over guys lying on the pavements to get them up and moving.

"if you don't like the heat... get out of the kitchen... but stop trying to fan the flames before you leave... it will burn you on the a** as you go through the doorway...." ME

It depends on what the x is cut with most are a MDMA base then they cut it with, Cocaine, meth anphetamine, heroine, LSD, special K some even cut it with things like drano, icing sugar, plaster of paris and the likes as well as adding colourings they then press it into pill form and mark it...Hence why you have different colours and markings on different batches..so it depends on what you take and the effect you want...
