It's nothing new to me. While in S Arabia in the late 90s, I was once forced to hire a private taxi on sharing basis from Riyadh to Dammam as the next SAPTCO bus was after five hours. The taxi was being driven by a young Saudi in his early twenties. Shortly after the vehicle touched the Riyadh-Dammam highway, the other passengers on the rear seat went to sleep as the journey was a four-hour long one. It was at this time the young Saudi driver began this antics of driving the car with his foot. While doing so, he had both his hands behind his head as it needed some rest! Yes, the car was doing 120 km. When I protested, he simply laughed at me asking me, "Are you afraid of dying? Why are you afraid of dying? All of us will die some day!" The antics continued for over an hour or so till the young man saw in his rear-view mirror the highway patrol approaching his vehicle.
