Driving on a visit visa? Please help as no one at the Madina Khalifa Traffic office is helpful
By reach4chips •
Hello QL
I visited the Madina Khalifa Main Traffic Police Office today and was extremely dissapointed to see that none of the policmen or staff there was even mildly responsive. A part of the problem might have been due to the communication gap as I do not speak Arabic.
Anyway, Noone at the office seemed to know anything about a Temporary Driving Permit. Could any of you who know please tell me about the process? I have a valid Indian Driving Lincense.

Please check this link..........................I think you need to have International driving licence from india to get temp QTR licence. There's no harm in giving a try.
Pray to Allah Subhana watala to get you best of the rest.

After completing all the forms, you proceed to the driving school and schedule a short course, usually 12 days, and pass the road signs, L and pocket parking, and finally, road test...this is only one take...if you fail, then you need to undergo a full course of 40 days...however, if you do pass, then validity of your license is as per your visa, and needs to be renewed once expired, and replaced once you get your permanent visa. That will be QR250 every renewal, plus QR1700 for the driving course. Good luck!
Sorry, I meant to say 'you need to get a form from the desk'
You need to get a from the desk which needs to be completed in Arabic (I got a security guard to do it for me), then you have to go and get photographs taken at the shops at the back of the building, then you have to go to the driving centre and have an eye test done. Once you have that make a copy of it. Then take the whole lot back to the desk you went to for a ticket which will direct you to one of the tellers in the building. Don't forget your passport. On a visit visa you can only have a Qatarian driving licence for the length of your visa. So every time you renew your visitors visa you have to go and pay more money to extend your driving licence. I have a British licence, I don't know if there are rules for different nationalities.
Assuming you are on visit visa. now iam not sure about the current regulations for temporary driving license or whether restriction introduced lately on licenses as a whole applies to temp licenses as well. better go with a PRO of your sponsor or someone Arabic speaking.
dear, you can apply through your sponsor for a temporary driving license. the procedures are same as that for a permanent driving license as well as tests. the license you get finally will have an expiry date as that of your temporary visa (visit visas usually). I had gone through this back in 2009.
