Don't date Arab Men !

Warning to be careful, Racism or freedom of speech ?

An Israeli group of prominent rabbis' wives has urged Jewish girls not to date or work with Arabs, underscoring the rising power of the religious Right and fuelling fears of growing racism in the country.

A letter, signed by 27 wives, called on Jewish girls not to go out with Arabs, work with them or perform national service in places where Arabs are employed.

It states: "They ask to be close to you, try to find favour with you, and give you all the attention in world. They know how to act with courtesy, as if they really care for you, but their behaviour is only temporary. The moment you are in their hands, in their village, under their control, everything changes.

"Your life will never go back to the way it was, and the attention you so desired will turn into curses, beatings, and humiliations."

Rabbi Gilad Kariv, the head of Israel's Reform branch of Judaism, condemned the letter. "Israeli society is falling into a deep, dark pit of racism and xenophobia," he warned.

Does have a lot of problems.

Sad but true and usually because of family.

Let's face it we all want to marry somebody who shares morals and values that match our own. Sometimes, unfortunately for some those are matched with somebody from another tribe/race/religion/culture.

Getting married and sustaining that marriage is hard work when you match supposedly in a perfect way.

The strain on mixed marriages is greater.

Yet, does it give anyone the right to say not to try and mix and learn, I do not think so.

I am married to an English man (deep joy) and yet I am Irish/English with a touch of Italian from Grandparents (oops) and we faced many problems when we got together. I am Catholic (devout) and he is an Atheist (devout). Does it stop us loving each other very much; NO! Has it caused problems (for others) yes, of course it has. My family to be honest.

Luckily my husband has cut through all of that *rap by being an excellent husband, an even better father and a fantastic in-law; so after 20 years, he is accepted ( I think) lol

Mixed marriages can work but they are rare. Compromise is the big thing.

The Jews (Hebrew: יְהוּדִים‎‎ Yehudim [jɛhuːdiːm]), also known as the Jewish people, are a nation and ethnoreligious group originating in the Israelites or Hebrews of the Ancient Near East. The Jewish ethnicity, nationality, and religion are strongly interrelated, as Judaism is the traditional faith of the Jewish nation.[6][7][8] Converts to Judaism, whose status as Jews within the Jewish ethnos is equal to those born into it, have been absorbed into the Jewish people throughout the millennia.

In Jewish tradition, Jewish ancestry is traced to the Biblical patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the second millennium BCE. The Jews currently enjoy political autonomy in the State of Israel, an independent state which is located in their national homeland, the Land of Israel. It officially defines itself as a Jewish state in its Basic Laws, and is the only country in the world where Jews constitute a majority of the population. They have also experienced political autonomy twice during ancient history. The first of the two ancient eras spanned from 1350[9] to 586 BCE, and encompassed the periods of the Judges, the United Monarchy, and the Divided Monarchy of the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah, ending with the destruction of the First Temple. The second era was the period of the Hasmonean Kingdom spanning from 140 to 37 BCE. Since the destruction of the First Temple, the diaspora has been the home of most of the world's Jews.[10] Except in the modern State of Israel, Jews are a minority in every country in which they live, and they have frequently experienced persecution throughout history, resulting in a population that fluctuated both in numbers and distribution over the centuries.

the problem with them is they tend to be adamant becoz of their beliefs,i can't blame them, they have their reasons. I do have my reasons to for believing the opposite..If we believe in something we always think that we are right. But we can't change the fact that people differ. Each of us is entitled to say what we want,it's just that not all people will be pleased..Just like atoms of different charge,it always attracts, there will always be reactions..

Jews encourage their children very much to marry other Jews.

As far as I am concerned if you aren't happy that your child or friend dates someone who is not of the same race or religion you should not live in the UK.

Such people want to be treated 'equally' by the system but don't practice it on an individual level. Hypocrasy.

By anonymous• 30 Dec 2010 08:52

choosing the right man to date is like trial & error in mathematics. Uncertainty is concomitant of it,as well as failure. IMO, love don't always cross boundaries like fairytales..Only few christian women who dated muslims ended up converting to muslim & marrying the man. Ukeng is right, religion matters maybe not all of the time but most of the time.

By GodFather.• 30 Dec 2010 08:51
GodFather.

Yes Britexpat.. When will people realise that we are living in the 21st century but some belief and cultural practices will never change. Either you respect them, or you ignore them, call then Stone age, racist but its their belief and you cannot do much about.

Ok the political statement would be respect each others belief and freedom of speach. But respect and freedom of choice or speach comes with great responsibilty.

Just because you dont agree with it does not mean it is wrong! and by agreeing with it with does not make it right!

By Translator• 30 Dec 2010 08:43

Hold that thought UkEngQatar. Jewish is a religion, and a Jew can be of any ethnic background. Arab is a national attribute of people who speak the Arabic language. Please understand the limitations of the comparison.

The truth of the matter is that many Jews are re-visiting the issue of limited options for marriage, in the age of globalization and open dialogue of cultures. Religious zealots attempting their best to reverse the trend and keep their hands in every bodies business, and pockets.
