oh really? ahem..thanks for leaving me tongue-tied like this lol

but i dunno still ~ Doha Tower in Dubai, Dubai Tower in Doha ~ not much of a difference!

Parthenon or Kremlin building/tower in Doha now that's something more interesting ~ could call it the Greek or Russian tower maybe lol ( i better stop now *_*)

@nymph, maybe because one of the Towers in Dubai is called Doha Tower :P

thanks ~

although i hate tall towers (& it's not just cuz i'm acrophobic +_+), i do admire some's architectural designs.

sometimes i feel Qatar is developing too fast my head is spinning, yeah sure there are hundreds who are way ahead of us but still.. ~

i dunno i guess i'm just nostalgic..and not in favor of these tall towers shooting up everywhere +_+ do they have to look like that? can't they think of different new designs? cover more ground? lol

better a couple of few nice short buildings than a crowded bunch of those tall towers ~ but that's just me :P

and why they have call one the "Dubai Tower"? Doha is becoming more and more like Dubai anyway so what's so special about that?! kinda annoying if ask me *_*

anyway thanks again n_n

By amnesia• 4 Feb 2008 12:26

because sadly that's what people want to see and tall towers have become a symbol of development.

So we can hope that Doha develops, grows as a symbol and also takes care of everything else in the meanwhile.

Why is it that the oil cartel nations measure their richness in Tall towers, exotic housing complexes and fancy cars?

Yet, there is deep issues that need to be taken care, specially when it comes to fair housing, fair consumerism, fair common respect and fair civil rights for everyone while working as an expatriate.

Any how, I did enjoy browsing those pictures of tall buildings.

hijacking your thread amnesia..

I agree the construction sector is booming spectacularly in Qatar. And this is the very first thing that I got impressed with, when I came to qatar first time for a visit, and this is the first thing I love about qatar. you can feel positive energy, intensive pulse of country, fresh blood moving in veins… I really admire it..

And the accommodation issue is actually a normal result of this dramatic growth of country. So government just has to work out this sector more intensive, and to try to solve the problem as soon as possible. That’s all I mean.

By amnesia• 6 Sep 2007 03:50
amnesia

I'm sorry, but I really do wish that not all threads turn into accommodation rants....

This thread was meant to show the developments of buildings and skyrises in Qatar....

@Charan, that's amazing! Are you near the display? Could you take any photos of it? ^_^

@qatarsun, if you understand my words as you explained it, then there is nothing I can do about it. I do not imply. I say what I say.

I've said in the past that the government is working on an issue with rent problems. I never said or implied that 'everything will be ok in a couple of minutes'.

As for finding you a flat. Someone asked me to prove that there are flats (I'm unsure if it was you) in another thread, and I posted a reply to that. I also stated that I do not need to prove myself. I gladly help people who are kind and do not give me the feeling that they are simply replying for the sake of arguing with me.

I kindly request that if you do want to have a debate, you can either discuss it in another thread, or send me a pm. I would like to keep this thread on topic.

Indians let it from the landlords and sublet to others. Thay are the middle man who mliks the money.I know of one Indian guy doing thai business. He Rent big new 2 storey vills and sublet it to others at 1 room to 4 people @ QR 800 a months. I knoe beacause I used his services before.

By qatarisun• 5 Sep 2007 15:29

...but every country should have reasonable rules for everything, otherwise it will be chaos. You can say the same way: don't interfere with drivers, who are abusive on the roads. you can say: either accept it or don't drive. Would it be correct? And you can say these words regarding a lot of things.

Yes, we call it “free market”, but free market also should obey some certain rules and regulations, otherwise it’s not a market, it is jungle. And the government always can find the way to balance between suppliers and consumers, that’s I know for sure.

And by the way, I have never met any local landlord, the property owner... for some reason I have to deal with Indian guys ( I am sorry but that’s true!).. I am wondering: why?

By anonymous• 5 Sep 2007 14:13
anonymous

Qatarisun - It is either you rent at my conditions or don't rent it at all. you think gov. want to interfere with properties belong to their own people. No way

By qatarisun• 5 Sep 2007 13:59
qatarisun

I also believe that this problem will NOT be solved in any near future, at least not in this generation. But it was just response to Amnesia, who is too optimistic regarding this matter and he always sounds like “guys! just another couple of minutes and this issue won’t be existing anymore, whatsoever”…

and actually we can do. or at least government can do. Just to let for rent all these hundreds and hundreds of empty accommodation, and it will reduce price automatically. And don’t say: maybe whoever owns these accommodations don’t want to rent them. They don’t want to rent them because existing law allows them to do it. Change the law so, that it will be much more profitable for them to rent it for the lower prices rather than to keep them empty, and that’s it.

By anonymous• 5 Sep 2007 13:37
anonymous

qatarisun - we all know that there is a problem but we can not do anything about it rather than live with it somehow. I personally think it will not be solved in the future as well. All have to search for alternatives to get away from the problem rather than tring to solve the problem.

By anonymous• 5 Sep 2007 13:35

Of all those proposal could we add:

1- How many more road blocks and pot holes are going to be allowed according to their budget?

but actually i am personally not too bad at all...lol...I am just talking in general about the accommodation situation in qatar...

... 29-y.o. engineer should be able to have and to afford his own accommodation very easy, like in any other country, otherwise it shows that something wrong in this sector of economy. that's all.

By anonymous• 5 Sep 2007 13:03

Why don't you get another guy and rent 2BR apartment 1BR each for you two, 1 toilet each for you two.

By qatarisun• 5 Sep 2007 12:51

it's not really "independence" when other 6 families share the same villa... trust me i checked dozens of places already... anything more or less acceptable starts from QR 7000, which is almost $2000 which is ridiculous for the accommodation.

By qatarisun• 5 Sep 2007 12:43
qatarisun

but unfortunately I cannot(and don't want to) pay QR7500, and I am still not ready to share the flat/villa with somebody, since I have never done it in my life (unless with my family members).

Amnesia, all right, i will read your posts more careful next time...

and yes, I am pessimistic when it comes to accommodation, but ONLY accommodation. I love Qatar, and that’s why I am still here regardless. But I feel very sad, when the 29-y.old engineer shares with me his “very good news”: recently he was able to move to his own room (it’s ok that it’s only 1 bathrooms for 5 people in the flat), and he will finally have his “privacy”, because before he was sharing the room with another engineer!!!

… 5 guys in 3-br flat with 1 bathroom he calls it “privacy”.. I said to him: I am very happy for you

By anonymous• 5 Sep 2007 12:36

Qatarisun - 1BR, 1 living, 1 toilet 1 kitchen in a villa (independant)will cost you QR 4500.

of course i am pessimistic when it's come to accommodation issue in qatar, i don't try to hide it.

here is just recent post on QL - and they call it GREAT OPPORTUNITY!

1-br apartment for QR 7500! http://www.qatarliving.com/node/33731.

BTW, since you are so optimistic regarding this matter, I am still waiting for your help in finding normal accommodation for reasonable price, as I have asked you earlier, and i am not kidding. THanks a lot!!!

First, I really doubt that even 50% of all these buildings will be residential units. Maybe only 10% of them, insha’allah!

Second… just to build all these buildings Doha will need thousands and thousands specialists to be brought in Qatar. So… Who will occupy all these apartments? Those specialists!

...and rent will never go down...

amnesia , if "some of them already finished", why it doesn't affect the rent? not even 1% down?? so far today they ask QR 8000 for the flat which yesterday was QR 7000.

and yes, Colt , you better book them now for this rate!! lol...

THats really great news!!!

But most of them residential also and who's going to live there.

I heard about one township project also coming behind ZIG ZAG tower towards AL Khor where they were expecting 250,000 people will live.

( From where they will bring people).

There might be a chance that in coming years property prices specially rent will go down.

Lets hope, anyways nice information.
