Think you will find Doha a bit on a par with Adelaide, albeit, with drink prices somewhat higher.

Good luck with it mate, and welcome to Qatar.

I guess you worked out already we dont have an Embassy / Consulate here as well, so you need to go through Abu Dhabi for any help. Again, good luck with that.
