Hello there
as some of you may know that I will be working in qatar in january my mom n step dad will be working there in december which will find a villa somewhere

But I have a German Shepard which is like a daughter to me and will defo be coming
Now she is 3 years old short haired and got her passport ready and rabies injections
But how do arabs treat dogs not in a nasty way
I herd like in egypt a dog is the devil and they try and poison them by leaving meat out and all sorts
are they safe i know she will have a garden to run freely in and everything but would still want morning and evening walks...

any advise please and what are the pets like over there aswell...

Anyone seeing my previous post must understand that the canine species has two sexes namely dog, Male and B****, Female, Removing this from my post is not a sensible action, a bitch is a female dog, not an offensive term for any reasonable person

I have a cross bred alsatian bitch, picked up from the street here in Doha. I have to be very careful with her because some people raise her aggression status to overkill. She will accept all nationalities to our house but if any Indian/Qatari child barks at her in the street there will be a bad reaction, she will be distressed.

You have to control your pets here in Qatar, unfortunately people here don't understand dogs as others do.

My dog has never harmed anyone here, but I could understand if she did judging by the stupid way people react to dogs.

Hey Thanks guys and girls lol all sounds great

Yh she is well well looked after shes like family to me so she sits on the sofa and all sorts has the high life.

Yeah she will be in the house most of the time unless going out on walks with the A/C she will never be outside. unless late at night or early mornings as it will be colder for her.

thanks for your comments

She has rabies injection and a passport and all up to date with her shots so should be ok

So long as you keep your dog away from people until the people indicate it is OK to approach them, you'll be fine. A lot of people here are afraid of or grossly uneducated about dogs and are therefore afraid of them. I've never had a problem with people behaving aggressively towards my dog because I keep my dog under control and don't approach people unless they want to meet her.

hi,i am always interested when it comes to dog matter..Yes,i love dogs..any kind of dog. As a matter of fact I have also dog here in Qatar..my friend found her in the street when she was only 3 weeks old and now she is 1yr old & 9 months. We treated her as a member of the family. But we need to tie her when we are not around the Villa for safety reason..you know here in Qatar, dogs are not allowed especially if it is big,and disturbing to other people, for sure she must be out of your home and the worst thing to do is to bring her in a place where the animals live like QAWS..or let her adopt by someone who is capable of taking care of..without any problem..For your info, my friend here had dog before but when he came out and saw by the police, he suddenly shot the dog..imagine, the dog was just small. In my case, i can keep my dog in our villa, because we are all Filipino here and they like also dog.

I hope u bring your dog here safe..but hoping also that your place to live in is also good for your dog so there will be no hassle in the future.. Good luck

If all the documents are ready and you get the OK to bring your pup to Qatar, then it should be of no problem, you should definitely bring her! I am Arab, I have friends from all over, some have pets, some don't, but one thing is in common animals are never treated badly by anyone, unless the person is a psycho or has some loose screws in his/her head. The only thing Muslims worry about is the dog coming near them and licking them cause in Islam dogs are sadly considered unclean. Just keep a watchful eye on your pup and don't worry about people trying to poison your dog, that's just ridiculous, we're not savages, we value every life too. As long as the dog doesn't stray away and is in you're own yard(though it gets WAY too hot, so I wouldn't recommend leaving her out there) or in your house you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Hawk10 apparently does not have a clue about what he is talking about, or maybe he just associates himself with the above mentioned psychos and loose nuts. Don't worry. Have a safe flight! All the best! :)

You are right in Arab culture dog and donkey are treated as dirty and cheap animals and if they swear at someone badly, they call him dog or donkey. Even the same in Indian sub-continent also. But as you will take care of your pet, then there is no problem. Hundreds of people here in Qatar have their dogs and they take care of it in their houses, even you can take them out for a walk also on the road, but not allowed in public places like malls, parks, public transport, restaurants etc and don't let her go out from your home.
