Does anyone know this family?

I'm Tory, Assistant Editor of Doha News.

Anyone know this family? We'd like to talk to them about what happened. Their son broke his leg on Friday at the Renaissance Hotel, apparently when something fell on him.

If you do know them, or know what happened, could you get in touch with me on this thread, or drop me a PM?

Thank you!

Yes, I see your point. I noticed that the editor of the Times of London has just gone onto twitter to find out about the family that got robbed in benidorm and whose plight was printed in the Sun. They also want to do another story on them.

Good luck with your exclusive.

Thanks to all who've helped.

To explain why we're doing this - the family clearly want publicity, as they got in touch with Peninsula to ask them to run a story. We're just trying to find out who they are to ask if they'd like us to write a story, too.

Reporting here is difficult. There are so many untruths, half-truths and rumours, and the only way we can find out the proper facts is if we speak to the family concerned, or someone who witnessed it. We've spoken to the hotel, but of course, that's only half of the story. For those suggesting a visit to the hospital - given confidentiality rules, this is obviously not an option (and certainly a breach of privacy.)

Thanks.

sorry, i'm a bit disappointed. i may be old fashioned too but asking in a public forum where the responses could simply be hearsay to get the answers instead of going to the field or asking the source of the information directly (i.e, the peninsula) does not qualify as investigative journalism to me.

it seems like a lazy way to get information. this is the way to do it if you want rumors, not real news. but hey, what do i know? i'm not a journalist

edit: is this what they call crowdsourcing?

Surely it would be more of an investigative reporting if the reporter went off to the hospital or interviewed the hotel staff..

Perhaps I'm just old fashioned..

Yes, wh, this is how investigative reporters get the news, by following up and investigating stories and interviewing the witnesses.

on QL this morning? Can't find it now. They wanted to know to whom and where to make a complaint. Keep looking through the Questions and Answers section. I know I saw it there earlier.

collect the details from the hamad hospital emergency dept, if HMC may compromise with the customer secrecy.

We were there and have left the parents our contact details.

I do hope that the little man is going to recover, we've spent a sleepless weekend thinking about him and his parents.

Our thoughts are with them.

Why don't you do some research yourself or ask The Peninsula
