Deordorant/Antiperspirant

Mandilulur
By Mandilulur

I really hope I'm not being offensive here, but in all the threads about body odor I've never seen a simple explanation/solution and that is to use a good deodorant/antiperspirant. It's not a matter of showering, you can shower twice a day and if you don't apply deodorant to your underarms you will begin to smell in short order. The body odor referred to repeatedly on QL is underarm odor. I have smelled unwashed bodies and dirty feet and people who eat highly spiced foods and that is not the odor we are talking about here. Evidently it is not the habit of some people - and I shall not name names or nationalities - to use deodorant. So, shower once a day and use deodorant. After working, wash selectively and use deodorant. The point is, use deodorant and the issue will go away.

PaddyBhoy the reactions vary depending on who is posting.

mandilulur is a very respected user here and has always posted intelligent stuff so her post is taken in different sense. Your track record isn't that impressive as you blamed one nationality for bad driving here so your post was taken in another sense, no offence.

There we go. I'm not the only one to complain and yet I got a warnign for saying this in the morning. Why can't some people respect the right of others not to be subjected to awful smell in public places?

I rest ma case

Yes, that would happen if they use deodorant.

It is available in every supermarket for about 6 QR.

Can we start a campaign against over-perfumed people as well. They irritate me just as much as the bad smelling people :(

well i think some people simply have got B.O (body odor) + being in a hot country like here makes it worse..thats how they are and i think there are ways to avoid that i mean to lessen the smell or something

OMG, I just read the other thread. what is wrong with you people? Why is it "offensive" to say that some people stink? For god's sake, we all, and yes, you too, know they do. And why is it bad to tell them to use deodorant? Is something wrong with using deodorant? Is it offensive? Is it against some culture, belief or something?

Jeez, get a grip people.

under-arm sweat contains pheromones if its fresh and doesnt contain bacteria...

these pheromones have been analysed and replicated to make expensive colognes and perfumes which are supposed to attract the opposite gender..

breeding bacteria makes it unpleasant.

btw, deodorants are ok as long as its superficial and doesnt block the pores...sweat suppresants are not healthy in the long run as they go against the nature..

Not only people eating spicey food smell....everybody smells equally bad if they let bacteria build up....bacteria builds up due to prolonged cycle of sweating....cooling off...sweating again.

If the person is continuously sweating a lot, like in a game of football or tennis, there is no build up of bacteria....also its for a short while like an hour or two.

...so drawing a parallel between hygine and what one eats is really funny...and also dumb.

The only solution for those outdoor guys is to keep a deodorant with themselves and keep use it intermittently.

But then again is it practical? No as these guys earn around QR 600 and they would need at least 15 to 20 bottles of deo every month....

Then they should also get Deo-allowance....lol
