DEMOTED AT WORK

This is a message from a friend - hope you can help me advise!

I was hired and worked for 3 yrs now in a shop in Villagio. However, last few months new Manager was hired and playing politics. He is always finding mistakes so he could replace me for his close friend.

In case the company will demote me from being a Shop Supervisor to a Salesman. Can i refuse? if they still insist, can complain them to the Ministry of Labor?

Howver, i have also advised to study over the things - i s there anything above limitations that time he have to go to the owner of the company or maybe ask the help of the labor e.g long hours of work, hurtful words etc...

He is jordanian/palestinian

Pious Cliche said Thank you for all your advises. Worst thing is that the company is not securing NOC for any employees."

Then that will be a real problem. Some other countries have industrial law which is a separate area of law which may protect employees. In Qatar, the contract is the law of the land. That's just the way it is and that's the risk you take when choosing to work with a local company.

But having said that, there is always more than one way to skin a cat, and is there any way you can work within the limitations of your current workplace? If there are incidents which are actionable, you need to have records of them, and if so, then take it up with the owners if you can or maybe you can lodge it at the labour office or at least get their advice on how to proceed further.

Most of the time, the owners of the company are not aware of these things going on as they leave it in the hands of the supervisors. If they are aware, they will probably do something about it. All the best to you, pc.

Yeah, unfortunately this happens quite often and whyteknight is right "Best thing to do in such scenario is resign.. Start looking for another job."

But try your best to leave on an amicable note and before you do so, pls ensure that you get that NOC so you can work elsewhere in Qatar.

This things happen out here on a regular basis. They not only try to replace you with one of their own but try to promote that person as assistant manager and so on. Actually its part of their wider game plan which is part of getting their own way and doing their own things without the higher management knowing anything about it and ultimately trying to enrich themselves while the organization goes to the dogs

You can't lodge any complaint against it.

such a thing happens in my opinion would be demand a reason for the same from the manager which if not satisfactory the same can be taken up with the top level management. If that doesnt yield get a release and try an other job.It really wouldnt do much good to fight this out, they could frame you even for some criminal case and slap a GCC ban if it goes on very bad notes.
