The biggest Cricket event is about to start in less than a week. Warm-up matches are on. Let's discuss.

Here are participating countries --

Group A
Australia
Pakistan
New Zealand
Sri Lanka
Zimbabwe
Canada
Kenya

Group B

India
South Africa
England
West Indies
Bangladesh
Ireland
Netherlands

I predict Sri Lanka, India or South Africa to take the World Cup.

Anybody looking for a place that is showing the World cup on large screen

I've found a place that has been showing the world cup live on large screen - Ungaare Restaurant , located at 4th Floor terrace , Ezdan Hotel & Suites , west Bay , Doha.

The best part is no entry fees , you can watch the game while you enjoy great food at reasonable price.

The turf is not looking good. Hope they do something before the real game begins.

Very ordinary game of Cricket yesterday during India-Australia warm-up match.

Both teams looked completely out of sorts.

Though India won, they have more questions to answer than rejoice. Indian pace bowling looked completely out of form. Except Sreesanth(whose place in playing 11 is not assured) all others were just pathetic.

Fielding was horrible.

Australia have serious issues tackling spin. Their middle order is compltely incapable of playing quality spin bowling. If they want to reach anywhere near Semis they have to adress their ability to play spin in subcontinent.

will sports bar (in Ramada) telecast live matches during WC, like football WC..???

By aasghar• 14 Feb 2011 13:14

I think QCA should arrange a giant screen on Corniche atleast for IND_PAK match. It will be worth watching it there.

By Swine Flu• 13 Feb 2011 15:55

It will end in 100% peacfull condition as it's in Doha. Morever it will be a enjoyable moment. What QCA doing here !!!

SwineFlu...that will be one situation.

Imagine, people from Pakistan and India watching India Vs Pak match on giant screen...how peacefully it will end :)

Bangladesh should be a cakewalk this time. Last time India was over-confident hence upset.

This time they will be extra-careful.

Still, Australia is a force in One Day games, despite their slide in Tests.

India has low chance given the middle order is horribly out of form.

India is definately not going to win this world cup.

Batsmen like, Gambhir, Raina, Dhoni, Yuvraj are going through worst form of their life.

140/8 in 30 over. What a performance by India today !!!!

By sandtest• 13 Feb 2011 12:45

India's key player is no doubt Sehwag.

If Viru can stay even till 30 overs, the game is over as far as opposite team is concerned.

But Viru's record in ODIs is not great.

I think it will be tough call for India selecting batsmen since either of Yusuf pathan or Virat Kohli has to sit!

By Khanan• 13 Feb 2011 12:42
Khanan

for a treat...

if Pakistan lift the cup

and vice versa...:)

By painther• 13 Feb 2011 12:39
painther

so its tough fight between SL, ENG & SA, just based on captains....

India may get chocked due to enormous pressure....remember 1987 WC!!,

pakistan, i doubt if afridi is the respected leader in team itself..

Aus- ricky has lost the clout,

..who else???

By painther• 13 Feb 2011 12:36
painther

on this account, I find Dhoni (being a wonderful leader)can do something good however major odd against him is home disadvantage.....no one could win it at home..and i am sure this trend is going to continue....sorry guyz...for not predicting india to lift cup.....(i wish i am wrong)

By painther• 13 Feb 2011 12:35
painther

normal trend has been(i hope someone supports me on this) sofar:

teams won WC on (1) due to a great captain (2) a gr8 captain supported by a good team...

Now to analyse-

as for teams, all teams at this level are almost equally good.....the difference lies at having a magical captain......

pakistan won due to Imran khan's magical leadership.....

same goes with kapil Dev, Allan border, steve waugh, ricky ponting, ranatunga, clive lloyed.....they had magical leadership skills.......

Why england did not win sofar, simple, they always had great teams (that's why they reach many semis) but not a great captain post 1975.

By sandtest• 13 Feb 2011 12:28
sandtest

Pakistan is highly unpredictable team. I won't bet on them.

England has got a good balanced team this time. They have Swann -- the world's current Best Spinner & given the subcontinent wickets being spin freindly, I am sure he will be the one to watch for.

I still think, Sri Lanka is highly under-rated considering they play best in subcontinent.

By painther• 13 Feb 2011 12:24
painther

no wonder if its pakistan ...wounded lions!!!! and this is the time for them to take the bull by horn.....i want them to beat (no, crush) england......worth watching....:)-

spare India guyz...lol

By painther• 13 Feb 2011 12:21

who ever wins..for me it's good timepass for 2-3 months......yawn....:)-

As far as Prediction of winner is concerned, on paper, South Africa, England & India have got best players.

But typically South Africa have has a distinct reputation of choking in crucuial games, specially knockout stages.

So I guess, this time it's either United Queendom a.k.a. England or India :)

I think Englad and Srilanka have been palying consistently good. Australia are true professionals and India can play well on their own pitches. Even Bangladesh have performed much better in 2010 but saying all only one team has the ability to surprise rather shock the world. PAKISTAN

opinion cup belongs to either India or England, both are in great forms, and India enjoys home conditions and they are very good batting side on Indian pitches, especially Sehwag, Sachin, Raina, Yuvaraj and Yousuf.

By KHATTAK• 13 Feb 2011 09:22
KHATTAK

India & Australia have a fair chance. England & South Africa are playing good but their bowling might not click to a greater extent on sub-continent pitches. Sri Lanka & Pakistan can surprise us.
